The Prudential El Paso office is seeking an experienced Software Engineer / Developer to support the El Paso (GBTS - Global Business & Technology Solutions) Center. The El Paso GBTS Center supports various Business Units and Corporate Centers through numerous engagements, and at times, transitions between internal business partners / roles allowing for growth in experience and career diversity.


The ideal candidate is strong in one or more modern programming languages. In this role you will be technically involved in all stages of the system development lifecycle, from requirements to delivery with opportunities to step into technology leadership roles. It is crucial that you understand all of the complexities and interfaces, both internal and external, from both a business and system perspective.


Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the relationship with test and production support teams to coordinate problem analysis and fixes
  • Work closely with development, product owners, architects, design engineers and testing staff; ensuring they have a clear understanding of project deliverables
  • Lead the design, coding and testing of complex distributed application components
  • React quickly to ever changing market conditions and technology advancements with “out of the box” solutions that allow our business partners to have the tools that will enable them to reach and exceed our sales goals
  • Collaborate with business, systems and Technology partners in business analysis meetings to develop business and systems requirements
  • Analyze system performance issues and determine performance enhancements
  • Work in a rapid pace environment with ability to juggle multiple projects

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent work experience required
  • 3 years of current experience designing, coding, and testing distributed application components utilizing one or more programming languages
  • Desired technical expertise: JAVA, JSP, Oracle/Linux, .NET, SQL, AngularJS, Front End, Full Stack, ServiceNow, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Python, Blue Prism (RPA), SharePoint
  • Proficiency in XHTML / HTML5, CSS3, Sass, Scss, and Bootstrap frameworks
  • Experience using J2EE, EJB, JDBC, SQL, PLSQL, and XSLT Websphere
  • Strong Desire for ServiceNow - Minimum of 3 years of experience developing on the ServiceNow platform including the creation and/or customization of the core applications such as Incident, Problem, Change, Service Request, Service Catalog, etc. (Industry certifications a plus)
  • Experience with Object Oriented JavaScript and modern JavaScript libraries (e.g., AngularJS); at least 3 years of current JavaScript experience required
  • Must be adaptable to work in a varied, fast paced exciting, ever changing environment
  • Strong core knowledge of ITIL processes
  • Proven ability to work in an iterative/Agile environment
  • Good analytical, math and problem solving skills to resolve technical issues
  • Strong interpersonal skills including team collaboration, leadership, presentation, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience using a scheduler application
  • Experience at troubleshooting business partner issues
  • Knowledge of Tech Support build and deployment process – ability to use their generic scripts
  • Working knowledge of Batch technology
  • Ability to understand conceptual ideas from both a business and systems perspective and turn that into a systematic solution that is forward thinking, flexible and strategic in nature
