Job Description

The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:

1. Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients in an effective and efficient manner in accordance with standards of practice; implements treatment plans, indicates competency across areas of practice.

2. Completes documentation in clear, well-written form in a timely manner, as well as, includes measurable data accurate interpretation, and appropriate recommendations.

3. Participates as member of the interdisciplinary team to integrate SLP treatment plan into overall care plan for patient.

4. Participates in and provides staff development training, as well as, family /patient consultation as needed.

Job Requirements

Education:                          

Must hold a Masters Degree from an accredited institution in the field of Speech-Language Pathology.

 

Qualifications:                    

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to interact and appropriately communicate with members to interdisciplinary rehabilitation team; ability to assess, diagnose, and treat variety of communication disorders; must consistently exhibit mental and emotional ability to understand and perform the essential

functions of the position. 

 

Experience:                        

Prefer prior experience as a staff SLP in a pediatric rehabilitation facility/setting with knowledge of head injury, dysphasia, augmentative communication, and behavior management.  Will accept strong Clinical Fellow Candidate.  

 

Licensure/Certification:                       

Must possess the Certificate of Clinical Competence of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and a current Virginia license to practice Speech-Language Pathology issued by the Board of Audiology and Speech Pathology.  

 

Physical Requirements:                   

- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

- Expect standing, walking, kneeling, lifting, and reaching while in patient care.

- Requires full range of body motion including handling and physical restraint of patient

- Ability to perform CPR
