Prudential International Insurance (PII) continues to be one of Prudential's fastest growing and most profitable business groups. PII has operations in eleven countries around the world (Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, India, China, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Poland, Italy, Indonesia and Malaysia. PII’s actuarial department supports all of the local actuarial teams from Newark, NJ and also works with other teams such as PII’s finance and capital area and enterprise wise modeling, risk, capital and actuarial teams.
The Risk, Capital, and IFRS team in the PII’s actuarial department is looking to add an actuarial position in Newark. This position will report to Director, Actuary. This candidate will 1) lead the Replicating Portfolio(RP) and Insurance RAC sign-off review and analysis preparation of a few local operations for Chief Actuary, 2) lead the stochastic scenario reviews and support the generation of stochastic scenario generations using Moody’s ESG tool, 3) support risk analysis/submission and global capital standard research/monitoring, and 4) support building liability cash flow projection models/tools using actuarial software such as Prophet.
This position provides an excellent collection of learning opportunities: Learning a wide range of insurance products and how they work in different countries, various risk based capital framework and process, stochastic scenario generation process, and modeling, and is a great fit for a motivated actuary who is looking for a challenge and learning opportunities.
  1. Replicating Portfolio and Insurance Risk Adjusted Capital Review Process
    • Manage the ARC endorsement process for best estimate assumptions unique to the RP process and support the analysis / development of policyholder behavior assumptions  
    • Coordinate with local operations and ERM for liability cash flow model runs in local operations
    • Lead the preparation of the analyses of base liability cash flows, stochastic cash flows for RP, and insurance stress cash flows
    • Lead the RP stochastic scenario analysis to receive a sign-off before sending out to local operations
  2. Economic Scenario Generation
    • Lead the work stream of generating risk neutral and real world scenarios Moody’s Analytics (B&H) software, calibration tool, and others
    • Lead the enhancement of ESG calibration and validation process
    • Coordinate with PII actuarial team and local actuarial teams for pricing and valuation support through scenario generations
  3. Risk Analysis and Global Capital Standard
    • Lead asset and liability duration analysis for Asset Liability Management in each operation
    • Support internal risk related analysis and submission such as Liquidity Risk Framework, Deterministic Stress Test (DST)
    • Support global/local field tests for new capital framework development such as IAIS ICS and Korea FSS RBC2 
    • Support the research and monitoring of the development of local regulatory capital and accounting standard such as IFRS
  4. Actuarial Modeling
    • Support building or reviewing actuarial models for asset and liability management and cash flow projections using actuarial software, such as Prophet, for various local operations

  • Degree in mathematics or related field is preferred
  • Experience in scenario generations is a plus
  • Strong quantitative and analytics skills
  • Programming experience
  • ASA or CFA is a plus, or otherwise intention to work toward actuarial credentials
  • Creative problem solver
  • Strong communication skills verbally and in writing, and ability to collaborate well with other teams
  • Must be able to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Experience with actuarial modeling software such as Polysystems and/or Prophet is a plus
