Job Details

The Target Protein Engineering group within the Pfizer Biomedicine Design department seeks a protein expression scientist tasked with assisting in the expression of target proteins and antibodies in transient and stable eukaryotic expression systems to support immune protein screening, activity assays, binding assays, structural characterization, and/or to advance knowledge of candidate therapeutic proteins.







Primary responsibilities :







+ Creation and characterization of stable mammalian cell lines for the production of target proteins for antibody discovery and validation.



+ Culturing and maintenance of mammalian cell lines



+ Characterization and documentation of expression results using gel electrophoresis, immunoblotting, flow cytometry, and other techniques



+ Working as a team with group members to plan and prioritize expression queue and scale, to provide conditioned media or extracts to protein biochemists in expected time frame.







Qualifications :







+ Minimum of BS degree in biological sciences, with 1+ years direct relevant hands-on experience in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or academic laboratory



+ Proficiency in growth and maintenance of eukaryotic cell cultures is required.



+ Demonstrated competency with various protein characterization methods (e.g. SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, ELISA).



+ Experience with small-scale protein purification is desirable.



+ Proficiency with optimizing and troubleshooting instrumentation is desirable
