The Senior Director - Business Development oversees, manages, negotiates, and assists in closing corporate development transactions across all divisions of UHS, as directed by the SVP, Strategy and Development.  This position also oversees daily activities of the department and provides supervision to Project Managers and Financial Analysts. 

Essential Job Duties

  • Coordinates and interacts with executives (internal and external), business leaders, and Board members to negotiate a variety of transactions and structures, including acquisitions, joint ventures, minority investments, swaps, and other acquisition or divestiture structures.
  • Leads analysis across markets and portfolio to determine potential growth opportunities.
  • Performs analysis of market positioning, operations, and finances of targets. 
  • Performs a valuation of the target company and determines the appropriate legal and tax structure for the deal. 
  • Assists in the negotiation of all aspects of the transaction. 
  • Performs due diligence on the target company. 
  • Manages and works with attorneys in getting appropriate legal agreements together. 
  • Manages the closing process and integration with UHS operations post-closing.
Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree with 8 - 10 years' experience required.

  • Experience in healthcare and transactional expertise, including management, control, direction, and oversight of the due diligence processes throughout the stages of the transaction.
  • Ability to work in a cross functional, matrixed environment across multiple divisions, as well as the ability to handle multiple transactions and manage a pipeline of deals and other activities on a regular basis.
  • PPACA (health reform bill) knowledge.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to analyze complex data and trends.
  • Proficient in valuation methodology and theory.
  • History of overseeing, managing, negotiating and closing transactions across the health care continuum.
