The Sr. Director, Field Medical is a field-based medical colleague in the Field Medical Director (FMD) group who is responsible for providing therapeutic area /product expertise for the Inflammation & Immunology therapeutic area in the assigned region (comprised of one or more US states) focusing on the therapeutic area's in-line and late-stage portfolio. While the selected candidate will be assigned to a specific IFMD territory, this is a remote field based medical role open to qualified candidates in any of our 27 US regions.


+ The FMD will primarily be responsible for providing approved medical content on Pfizer's products in the designated therapeutic area to HCPs who have local, regional, or national roles in health care provision and/or decision-making as determined by Pfizer, the Dermatology FMD, FMD TL, and US Medical Affairs.

+ Keep abreast of medical and scientific developments in the designated therapeutic area by continuously reviewing literature in the field, monitoring competitor activities, networking with experts and attending assigned conferences.

+ Contribute to the medical planning for brand/asset team projects and activities, and work with medical leadership to develop and implement the FMD team medical plan for Pfizer products in the designated therapeutic area.

+ Maintain effective and appropriate communication and collaboration among headquarters medical colleagues, Medical Information and other Pfizer FMD colleagues.

+ Serves as a project lead for the field team as assigned by the Dermatology FMD leadership.

+ Serve on medical and/or disease area and asset cross-functional committees, as appropriate.

+ Ensure compliance with all internal/external SOPs/Rules/Regulations.

+ Serve as a conduit and resource for customer insights pertaining to disease areas and Pfizer assets.

+ Serve as conduit and medical resource to therapeutic area investigators and researchers, as appropriate.

+ Represent Dermatology FMD or Medical Affairs Leadership as requested by FMD or Medical Affairs leadership.

+ Lead broad cross-functional or enterprise-level initiatives to bring the voice of HCPs and patients to brand efforts and cross functional teams to provide medicines meeting their needs, while considering the needs of customers including payers and organized customers.

+ Champion change and create innovative resources, tools, and/or opportunities for the entire Dermatology FMD, Medical Affairs, or across the enterprise to advance the role.

+ Serve as a model and mentor for training new colleagues and be recognized as a sought out therapeutic area expert by colleagues broadly across the enterprise.

+ Lead corporate or enterprise-wide working groups and contributes to the medical planning for above brand/asset team strategy, projects, activities, and works with sr. medical leadership to develop and implement the FMD team medical plan for Pfizer products in the designated therapeutic area.

+ Lead corporate or enterprise-wide working groups and contributes to medical planning and strategy applied across the FMD or Medical Affairs enterprise.

+ Serve on corporate or enterprise-wide medical and/or disease area and asset cross-functional committees, as appropriate.

+ Assist Dermatology FMD Team Leaders in the development of a vision, strategic direction, and implementation plan regarding alignment of cross-functional engagement of customers within Pfizer I&I across the U.S. and ensure the Inflammation FMD role and activities are aligned with Pfizer I&I medical needs.

+ Identify proactive outreach and reactive Dermatology FMD initiatives; lead the development and timely approval of medical content by the Medical Review Committee (MRC) for FMD use in the field in accordance with Pfizer Medical policies and SOPs to achieve the primary goal of conducting and enhancing medical communication between Pfizer IM and national, regional and local health care professionals

+ Assist Dermatology FMD Team Leaders by actively contributing and demonstrating leadership on the MRC Strategic Working Group. Ensure timely review and approval of medical resources.

+ Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs with external MD-based professional associations and/or societies.

+ Contribute expertise and insights to FMD teams, brand teams and other cross-functional workstreams as a trained physician.


Education / Experience

MD or DO with 10 or more years of relevant experience required. Expertise or experience in the Inflammation & Immunology (dermatology) therapeutic area is highly desirable.

+ Demonstrated clinical and technical skills.

+ Demonstrated ability to rapidly adopt and utilize new digital technology and other resources with medical customers and record medical interactions (e.g. iPAD, Acronis, WEBEX, on-demand video-conferencing, iMED)

+ Familiarity with internal/external SOPs/Rules/Regulations regarding Pfizer/customer interactions and relationships, etc.Ability to operate a Pfizer company car and regularly fly on airplanes (ie. attend HCP/customer meetings; attend HQ meetings in Collegeville PA, etc.) required; proximity to airline 'hub' city);

+ Flexibility to travel 60-80% of time.
