Sr. Director, IM FMD Medical Customer Lead

This position will lead the Medical Customer Engagement Strategy and oversee key activities related to Medical Customer Identification and Engagement within the IM FMD Group. The IM FMD Medical Customer Lead is a field-based medical leader in the Internal Medicine Field Medical Director (IM FMD) group who has a broad range of accountabilities and responsibilities to design, develop, and execute the IM FMD Group Medical Customer Strategy, Tools, and Resource development in order to ensure that the IM FMD Group (a) targets the right HCPs and other medical customers given the IM FMD Group operating plan priorities and the rapidly evolving US health care environment; (b) has the necessary tools and resources to maximize the impact of their medical customer engagements; and (c) demonstrates the quantitative and qualitative impact of their medical customer engagements.

As a member of the IM FMD Group Leadership Team (LT), the IM FMD Medical Customer Lead will also demonstrate significant leadership, representation, and agency responsibilities on behalf of the IM FMD LT and at times within the broader Medical Affairs organization; and will also inform the IM FMD group vision and strategy and assist the IM FMD Group Lead and LT in leading broad corporate or enterprise-wide initiatives that advance the IM FMD Group's impact throughout the enterprise. The IM FMD Medical Customer Lead also has people management responsibilities as the supervisor for other IM FMD Medical Customer individual contributors.

**Roles and Re** **sponsibilities**

**Medical Customer Identification and Segmentation**

+ Lead the development and implementation of the IM FMD Group Medical Customer Segmentation Plan by conducting annual health care environmental SWOT analyses and research; conducting customer insight analyses; anticipating US health care and HCP trends and unprecedented opportunities for FMD medical customer engagement; and leading the IM FMD Group Medical Customer Segmentation Advisory Team;

+ Lead the development and implementation of new IM FMD Group Medical Customer Segments for IM FMDs to extend their reach and meet the expanding and more diversified set of Internal Medicine medical customers needed beyond traditional HCP Key Opinion Leaders including, but not limited to: nurse practitioners, physician assistants, regional and national policy makers, organized customer population health decision-makers within a therapeutic area (TA), patient organization leaders, medical society leaders, and HCPs in new therapeutic areas and/or new specialty types for Internal Medicine (e.g. orthopedic surgeons for Tanezumab; liver specialists for NASH);

+ Identify, maintain, and communicate within the IM FMD Group and Medical Affairs more broadly the regional trends, analytics, and business overviews of national, regional, and therapeutic area trends as they relate specifically to the evolving medical customer segments in the US and their impact on the changing locus of control of health care decision-making at an individual and population health level;

+ Conduct environmental scans across regions to identify trends, insights, and opportunities to inform the appropriate prioritization of specific medical customer segments for the respective IM FMD therapeutic area priorities and strategies;

+ Lead the implementation of the two Medical Customer-related Strategic Imperatives in the IM FMD Group 3-5 Year Plan.

**Medical Customer Tool and Resource Development**

+ Lead, develop, build, and maintain the IM FMD Group HCP Explorer Tool that serves as the primary repository and searchable database of the IM FMD Group's Medical Customer segments from both the IM FMD Group CRM tool and the Pfizer enterprise IMS HCP master file and other medical customer lists; train and support all IM FMDs on the use of the HCP Explorer Tool to inform the IM FMDs' regional medical planning and HCP identification and prospecting for new HCPs; and issue new releases of the tool periodically throughout the year as new medical customer segments are updated;

+ Provide supervisory oversight of individual contributors in IM FMD Medical Customer roles;

+ Manage all back-end processes required to produce and warehouse the datasets for the HCP Explorer Tool;

+ Conduct periodic analytics using the HCP Explorer Tool and the IM FMD Group CRM tool to evaluate the group's footprint with various medical customer segments including but not limited to priority IS Hospitals, KAM accounts, and other organized customers.

+ Lead the creation of innovative digital platforms and BT-enabled tools and solutions and other resources that strengthens the IM FMD Group's impact during their medical customer engagements in the field;

+ Design experiments to rapidly evaluate new tools and resources that enhance IM FMD Group medical customer engagements;

+ Lead the IM FMD Group Tool and Resource Advisory Team;

+ Lead the development of innovative tools and resources to enhance the IM FMD Group's Medical Customer Engagement Skills and Capabilities; design experiments involving innovative ways to prospect for and identify new IM FMD medical customers that lead to more enduring interactions;

+ Identify and lead the creation of innovative tools and approaches to more easily facilitate the generation of actionable medical customer insights from medical customer engagements with IM FMDs and HQ brand teams;

+ Represent the IM FMD Group leadership with the North America CFME Lead; lead the IM FMD Group Capabilities Advisory Team; and inform the IM FMD LT on medium to long-term skills and capabilities needs for IM FMDs regarding needed medical customer engagement capabilities;

+ Represent the IM FMD Group leadership with Medical Governance (in the CMO) on the Cross-BU US Medical Governance Team; proactively identify innovative solutions that can inform the IM FMD Group LT and Medical Governance on opportunities for enhancing IM FMD impact in the field with medical customers; review draft Medical Governance policies to provide input and opportunities for guidance evolution to the IM FMD LT.

**Other Responsibilities**

+ Directly manage direct reports who are conducting the medical customer segmentation work and be responsible for all aspects of people management for these direct reports.

+ Develop statements of work and manage vendors for IM FMD medical customer tool and resource development as needed and manage work, budget, and invoice processing;

+ Assist the IM FMD Group LT in cascading and communicating the above mentioned medical customer priorities, strategies, and impact within the IM FMD Group, or beyond as appropriate;

+ Maintain therapeutic area and disease area subject matter expertise in Internal Medicine and expertise on the US Health Care environment including trends in care provision, payment reform, government regulations, HCP demographics, and health system consolidation and how these trends impact the FMD role; anticipate trends in the US health care system and how these trends relate specifically to therapeutic area-based FMDs and their HCPs;

+ Maintain subject matter expertise on FDA and other US regulations and guidance that impact interactions with and delivery of medical information to external healthcare professionals in Internal Medicine;

+ Maintain subject matter expertise on new digital technology, on-demand, and other related offerings that improve the efficiency of the IM FMD Group, medical communications activities and/or enhance the overall medical customer experience and the ability to more effectively identify new medical customer segments;

+ Stays current on all relevant Pfizer SOPs and guidance documents;

+ Shadow IM FMDs in the field on at least two "ride days" per year;

+ Lead cross-functional workstreams, projects, and initiatives within Medical Affairs (including Medical Customer strategic imperatives within the NAMA 3-5 year plan) or the broader Pfizer enterprise upon request by Medical Affairs leadership;

+ Engage external HCPs and other medical customers for advisory boards;

+ Engage with external partners for technology platforms required to support IM FMD medical customer tools and resources.

**Education / Experience**

Terminal Doctorate degree (PharmD, PhD, or Doctor of Nursing Practice) with 15 or more years of relevant experience required. Expertise or experience in Internal Medicine therapeutic areas and the US health care system, health care analytics, and IT application design required.

+ Demonstrated advanced knowledge, deep expertise and experience in understanding the dynamic US health care environment, health care systems, payment reform (e.g. ACA, MACRA) care processes, Integrated Delivery Networks, Medical Group, and Hospital systems, Medicare, Medicaid, pharmaceutical pricing, and US and global trends in population health, HIT, EMR systems, and physician employment;

+ Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Medical Affairs and Clinical Development;

+ Demonstrated ability to rapidly adopt and utilize new digital technology and other resources related to medical customers and medical interactions (e.g. iPAD, Acronis, WEBEX, INCITE, on-demand video-conferencing, iMED)

+ Demonstrated skills in digital products and services applied to the IM FMD Group and Medical Affairs settings such as digital apps and Artificial Reality;

+ Familiarity with internal/external SOPs/Rules/Regulations regarding Pfizer/customer interactions and relationships, etc.Ability to operate a Pfizer company car and regularly fly on airplanes (ie. attend HCP/customer meetings; attend NYHQ meetings, etc.) required; proximity to airline 'hub' city); Flexibility to travel 60-80% of time.

+ Reports to the US IM FMD Group Lead.

+ Maintain close coordination with medical counterparts located in Pfizer Headquarters to ensure activities are aligned with overall medical priorities as described in Medical operating plans, strategies, initiatives and projects, as appropriate.

+ Maintain good and appropriate working relationships and coordination across business units in functions ranging from medical, commercial, and development (e.g. North America Medical Affairs, Medical Information, Medical Outcomes Specialists, Clinical Development, Payer and Channel Access, Sales and Account Management, Business Technology, CFME Group, Finance, Procurement, BAI, Office of the CMO, Corporate Affairs, Legal, Compliance, Patient and Health Impact, and Marketing).

**Financial Accountability**

+ Manages individual T&E budget in a compliant manner.

+ Manage project budgets within budget and on-time.


+ People management responsibilities for individual contributor colleagues also dedicated to creating medical customer segmentation projects.

+ Individual contributors include both Director-level roles and Project Managers.
