Sr. Director, Payment Integrity Analytics - Telecommute (740633)

Position Description

The Advanced Research and Analytics (ARA) organization provides analytic consulting, analytic solution design and delivery to the various lines of business and shared services organizations within UnitedHealthcare. The ARA team provides analytic services and solutions which include data acquisition, data management, predictive analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, application integration and reporting.


The ARA team provides Analytic Services across a wide variety of business domains including claims processing, payment integrity (fraud, waste, abuse, error), member/provider experience (digital, call center, campaigns, net promoter scores), clinical insights, provider network optimization, and many more.


The Senior Director of Data Science will work with Stakeholders within an assigned Domain.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, grow & maintain analytic Strategic Analytic Roadmap
  • Build relationships and drive awareness and knowledge of advanced analytics
  • Promote the capabilities areas of Advanced Research & Analytics team
  • Document the Enterprise Business Processes which are to be impacted by the proposed Enterprise Analytic Solution strategy for the Domain
  • Manage and track business value realization and financial reporting of Analytic Services within Domain
  • Lead a team of analytic consultants
  • Responsible for project plan creation, for major projects, to include standardized templates and milestones
  • Define the business solution definition within the capability area
  • Responsible for the delivery of projects across the Domain
  • Engage with Stakeholders related to the execution of projects delivered within Domain
  • Manage analytic portfolio governance
  • Manage (and ensure resolution) of escalations/issues within the domain

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • 10+ years use of software applied to predictive analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence
  • 5+ years of experience in analytic application/solution development - Refers to the implementation of repeatable analytic solutions which encompass all phases of the software development cycle
  • 5+ years of analytic experience in at least one of the following domains:
    • Healthcare Fraud, waste, abuse and error
    • Healthcare Claims
    • Healthcare Constituent (consumer, member, provider) experience
    • Healthcare Clinical analytics
    • Healthcare Business process automation
  • Strong business focus; must excel at connecting business requirements to analytic objectives and to measurable business benefit
