Position Description:
The Sr. Director of Construction and Corporate Facilities provides leadership and direction for the construction / corporate facilities function.


  • Provides direction, leadership, and administration of the Construction and Corporate Facilities departments in the most professional, technically competent, cost-effective manner with a continuous focus on The Home Depot’s short term business objectives and long term strategies.
  • Manages the new store, remodel programs, corporate facilities, and other capital and expense budgets within budget, on schedule, and required quality standards. 
  • Emphasizes high-quality communications, teamwork, and quality working environment with Construction, Corporate Facilities, with Store Supports customers, and with outside firms.
  • Participates with Real Estate, Site Development Coordinators, and Project Managers in predevelopment activities, site analysis, due diligence, schedules, cost estimates, and lease reviews to ensure cost effective solutions for successful Home Depot development and profitability. 
  • Participates in short and long range planning for Corporate Facilities, monitor organizational structure, human resource requirements, technical and educational needs, and proactively develop personnel to achieve goals and objective of the division.
  • Manages issues of corporate compliance and execution of Home Depot legal obligations and commitments by the company.
  • Oversees the Space Planning Management function, including adds, moves, and changes required of our corporate facilities.
  • Reports to the Vice President Real Estate and Construction
  • Direct reports typically include one or more directors and an Administrative Assistant, with a total staff of 10 – 15.
  • Typically requires highly developed interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive or controversial situations.
  • Typically faces situations that are unstructured and require original approaches.
  • Typically solves problems by considering courses of action within the framework of management’s goals and standards.
  • Typically determines what should be done in a functional area or business unit within the broad policies and principles or very general goals.
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Typically requires overnight travel 20% of the time.
Additional Environmental Job Requirements:

Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Additional Minimum Qualifications

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 10 years

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Additional Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Business, Legal and/or Architectural / Engineering Degree 
  • Financial planning and analysis experience 
  • Site Planning and Construction Budgeting Experience 
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
  • Knowledge of Finance and Accounting Principles and Practices. 
  • Budgeting, Financial Planning and Financial Modeling skills. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of development experience (preferably Big Box Retail) 
  • Ability to Negotiate and Interact with all levels of associates. 
  • Strong understanding of all documents related to the construction process, corporate facilities, and ongoing management of real estate assets.
