Description The Sr. Hardware Engineer serves as a member of the Consumer Premise Engineering Technical Review Board and oversees the specification, analysis, design, testing and validation of AT&T Consumer Premise Equipment (CPE) including set top boxes, router/gateways, LNBs, and peripheral devices. This engineer also provides technical input on new technologies being integrated into these designs and interfaces directly with CPE OEMs to validate the integrity of their designs throughout the product design cycle to ensure that all hardware requirements are met.



Primary Responsibilities:



• Interface with AT&T CPE OEMs throughout the product design cycle to ensure that best engineering practices are followed, sufficient system analysis is performed and test data is fully reviewed on the design of AT&T products to ensure compliance to AT&T hardware and performance specifications.



• Work with AT&T CPE OEMs to proactively identify potential areas of risk in their designs and recommend specific tests to determine performance margin with the goal of minimizing schedule slips late in the development cycle.



• Interface within AT&T Engineering to review performance specs and test plans for AT&T CPE, making suggestions for improvements where necessary.



• Provide technical input on new technologies used in CPE in the form of technical specifications, product specifications, etc.



• Proven experience (7-10 years) with hands on design of consumer electronics hardware (PCs, Set Top Boxes, Routers, Gateways, etc.) with a focus on low cost, very high reliability designs.



• Experience in multiple areas of PCB design such as: schematic capture and PCB layout, DDR memory, various high speed interfaces such as USB, SATA, HDMI, ethernet and PCIe, analog audio/video design, power supply design, signal integrity, ESD and EMC mitigation/compliance, UL compliance, WiFi, satellite front end design, terrestrial tuner design, LTE design.



• Experience with embedded CPUs, and set top box or router/gateway design is desirable.



• Hands-on experience with collecting/analyzing test data from consumer electronics devices.



• Familiarity with various lab equipment including scopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators and RF test equipment
