The Senior Manager, Leadership Development will provide advice to the business and deliver on leadership development strategies and programs, including group facilitation, assessment debriefs 1x1 and in small group settings, mentoring, creating and delivering High-Potential talent development experiences across Cox Automotive. The Senior Manager will serve as a subject matter expert in leadership and HIPO development and will provide a range of consultation services to executive leaders and senior management on the development and implementation of key strategies for creating and sustaining a high performing organization and work in partnership with client groups to orchestrate cultural development and organizational change initiatives.

This position will report to the Director, Leadership Development and must demonstrate the ability to work independently and lead through influence with strategic partners to achieve desired results.  

  • Focuses on core leaders and upper management and develops strategic partnerships with Executive Teams, HR Business Partners and other internal clients to identify and support initiatives that foster development and address strategic business goals and needs. 
  • Consults with internal business clients, assesses root causes and performance gaps and recommends appropriate developmental opportunities for HIPO team members including; assessments for selection and development, facilitation of tools and modules aimed at creating behavioral changes with our leaders, (emotional intelligence, strategic planning, communication, IDP stretch opportunities, delegation, decision making, leading through influence).
  • Designs a variety of blended development approaches for High-Potential talent from needs assessment to finished copy, including a range of virtual and in-person experiences, exposure opportunities and formal education with a focus on highly-experiential programming, simple models and tools, and relevant assessments.
  • Implements leadership acceleration programs and performance improvement programs for High-Potential talent with immediate applicability to the workplace to ensure the continuous development of critical capabilities and performance levels.  
  • Creates consistent measurement plans for leadership programs addressing the Kirkpatrick Levels of Evaluation to track development success and outcomes providing insights that can be acted upon to drive improvements in the effectiveness of programs and the success of the business. 
  • Serves as SME of psychometric tools and assessments (e.g., personality, behavioral, brain based, and competency based tools e.g., 360s) used for Selection and Hiring, Succession Planning, Development, and Team Effectiveness to ensure alignment with company policy.
  • Serves as internal coach and uses assessments when indicated by the talent plan to provide insights into behaviors, aptitude, personality, social awareness and risk behaviors.  
  • Supports the work of external consultants brought in to support key initiatives by providing them with information about the organization, helping with implementation of projects, and ensuring that follow-up effectiveness assessments are conducted
  • Keeps up-to-date on current trends in Leadership Development, Change, psychometrics, Team Development, Learning; maintains certifications as appropriate


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Learning & Development, Human Resources, Psychology, Business, Organizational Development  or like discipline, Master's preferred.  Knowledge of organizational effectiveness/development, adult learning theory, instructional design, change management
  • Experienced in program creation, broad based communication plans and implementation of HIPO leadership development experiences for mid- level leader through executives
  • Certified practitioner in psychometric assessments such as; Birkman Method®, HBDI®, Hogan® and 360 instruments     
  • Experienced working in HR shared services model with focus on HR consultancy/OD and/or performance consulting and training experience
  • Experienced with leadership and development needs analyses, program design aligned to meet business objectives, implementation, facilitation, logistics and delivery
  • Demonstrated ability and proven experience communicating and presenting to all levels of management, including senior executives
  • Minimum of 5+ years of proven success and progressive career movement in a leadership, learning and development or business operations role required
  • Ability travel up to 20%
