Position Description:

POSITION PURPOSE

  • Licensed Customs Broker Preferred
  • Strong product HTS determination experience - Preferred

This position works in conjunction with the Manager of Global Trade as a member of the Global Trade Services team responsible for the importation of Home Depot products.  This position will be responsible for daily operations ensuring a high level of compliance with all applicable internal international trade controls and Customs regulations. In addition, the person in this role will be responsible for the management of U.S. Customs brokerage service providers.

Preferred candidates will have experience with HTS classification determination, resolving customs compliance issues and working with freight forwarders. 

 Responsibilities:

  • Work in conjunction with internal stakeholders to ensure all imported accurately classified (HTS)
  • Coordinate the free trade agreement qualification process for imported products
  • Assist department manager in the development of import compliance forms, tools, templates and performance reports
  • Coordinate weekly discussions with service providers
  • Liaison with Internal Audit teams

This position reports to Manager of Sr Manager
This position has no Direct Reports

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Additional Minimum Qualifications:


Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience:
3 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Additional Qualifications:

Qualifications Required:

  • BS/BA Degree
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience specific to the importation of goods and international trade regulatory compliance
  • Knowledge of Customs regulations
  • Experience with free trade agreement product qualification
  • Licensed Customs Broker Preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and Access


Preferred Qualifications:
Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Math or Finance Degree Master's Degree
Experience with Six Sigma or other Process Improvement Methodology
Proficient in: Microsoft Office Suite including Access, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Word and Visio.
Advanced Skills in: Mini-Tab, Access, SQL, Visual Basic Skills for Data Acquisition and Analysis, Visio-Process Mapping Skills
Project Management Skills
Finance/CBA/Capital Budget Experience
