*Role Description*

Responsible for the organizational leadership of the Capital Projects, and Process Engineering group at the McPherson, KS PGS-Sterile Injectable site. Manage a technical organization consisting of project & process engineers, and financial controls specialist to define, assess, and execute capital investments to achieve strategic and operating plan commitments. Develop and drive the 5 year site master capital plan including, but not limited to: * In-progress modernization efforts (2 new fill lines, central commodity processing area, serialization across 14 packaging lines, visual inspection facility and combo-device packaging areas.)* New auto-loading lyophilizer facility remediation. Estimated $125M total project; new fill line(s) and lyos.* Process enhancements and improved equipment washing, preparation and sterilization processes.* Manage complex site improvement initiatives such as: dedicated packaging facility, laboratory expansion and modernization, and long-term personnel and space planning. Align with network and corporate resources to leverage processes, standard work, procurement, technical support, and training opportunities. Drive successful project execution - monitor changing priorities in a dynamic environment, look for opportunities for efficiency improvements, align engineering resources across multiple projects to deliver results that meet multiple stakeholder timeframes. Role will be responsible for approximately $75M in annual capital projects over the next 3-5 years.


Safely execute capital projects to cost, schedule, and regulatory commitments. Ensure GMP compliance and conformance to all regulatory requirements; lead reliability improvement efforts for plant assets and project execution processes.Develops (coach, mentor & train) internal resources capabilities and capacity to support the ever-changing needs of the business. Develop plant "self-assessments" to verify current state execution performance to standards and ensure project execution effectiveness.Advance capital execution process and standard work / continuous improvement based on Lean and Reliability principles. Visual management is a critical element. Methods include, cost management, schedule management, risk and change management.Facilitate an annual capital planning process resulting in an annual capital budget for the plant - align the capital plan to the site operating plan and P&L. Manage the annual capital spend and capital appropriation approvals - track key measures of capital execution. Facilitate bi-weekly (or monthly) capital project forum to evaluate new capital requests and confirm status of on-going project execution.Identify and drive continuous improvement for improve capital management and execution. Coordinate projects across plant to improve safe work habits & environments, increase productivity, reliability, capability and reduce areas of highest risk in the facility (safety, reliability & performance).Provide interface on key issues and problems with Corporate Management; participate in strategic planning sessions to set the direction for future technology platforms, and engineering standards, & develop the 3-5 year strategic capital investment plan ensuring cross-functional & multisite alignment.


* Required Bachelor's Degree in Engineering * Preferred Master's Degree: M.S. or M.B.A* Preferred Registered: Professional Engineer* 8 years of pharmaceutical, biotech, or similar industry experience. * 3 years managing technical staff. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS * Role requires ability to safely navigate construction sites, and project areas.* The position requires a very high level of resourcefulness, an ability to get things done by removing obstacles, perceiving and resolving problems, making difficult decisions with less than complete information provided, and accomplishing project and operational goals through innovative management.NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS * Travel required for vendor selection, FAT support, & global network meetings; estimate less than 10%.* Shift work minimal; project related.* 2 annual shutdowns require significant site commitments.
