Rare Disease North America, conceived as part of the category leadership construct, is a newly structured organization that generates nearly $1B annual in revenues. The focus of the group is to transform thousands of patients and families lives by working together collaboratively to create innovative programs that serve the patient community. This newly formed category has been developed to maximize the existing in-line portfolio in hemophilia, gaucher's disease, acromegaly and other endocrine disorders while positioning Pfizer as a rare disease category leader with an exciting and promising pipeline, including gene therapy platform, amyloidosis, sickle cell disease, and Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

This position will report to the Launch Brands Team Leader for Rare Diseases, North America. The position will support the strategy development and implementation for the launch of Vyndaqel. Vyndaqel will represent the first Pfizer launch in Rare Diseases for the US organization. The position ensures that all key brand strategies are executed as designed and overall alignment to marketing objectives is achieved. In addition, the colleague in the role will spend a portion of their time supporting the emerging Rare Diseases pipeline, a portfolio of multi-billion dollar pipeline assets which are expected to deliver 5 launches in the next 5 years for our Rare Diseases North America Business (e.g. Rivipansel).


This role will be responsible for:

+ Build a launch capability for North America Rare Disease Commercial Group that can be deployed for all future Rare Disease launches

+ Partnering effectively with Medical, Regulatory, Legal and Global Marketing and Commercial Development

+ Create and Innovate novel launch approaches tailored for the highly patient-centric approaches needed for Rare Diseases1. Lead the development and implementation of the marketing strategies, tactics, and initiatives, ensuring that all key launch initiatives are executed to support the US launch and long term brand success of Vyndaqel 2.Understand customer unmet needs and proactively identify and address solutions to better meet customer needs in a niche market Responsible for development of multichannel approaches to selling including digital strategy and implementation, and media placement3. Communicate closely with Marketing Operations and with agency partners to create and implement promotional tools.4. Work closely with Marketing Operations to manage brand team interactions with the Review Committee for implementation of tactics5. Responsible for creation of tactics for sales representatives: access and awareness, including speaker programs6.Manage overall budget including tracking of initiatives and quarterly closes7. In partnership with key cross-functional partners, drive implementation of Specialty Pharmacy strategy

+ Translate strategic goals for the brand to the US launch1. Participate in development and execution of the US annual marketing plan to achieve stated financial and business goals.2. Drive marketing plans within the team and with all outside vendors, ensuring compliance with brand guidelines and all other policies and procedures. 3. Develop solutions that support and align with marketing objectives and that are consistent with Pfizer's established strategy.4. Establish a high performing Review Committee by serving as RC Captain to continuously improve metrics, deliverables, and culture

+ Support the Emerging Rare Diseases Pipeline 1. Work closely with cross-functional partners in Global to ensure Rare Disease pipeline assets are being delivered with the profile and preparation needed for success in the US region (e.g. Rivipansel).2. Direct, monitor and evaluate business intelligence to gather insights, understand and prioritize market trends3. Develop relationships with influencers/KOLs to further customer experience knowledge4. Operate as a fully integrated business partner on the launch teams

+ Support in-line initiatives across Rare Disease Commercial Group as needed.


+ BS Degree Required, MBA or other advanced degree highly desirable

+ 5+ years' experience in pharmaceutical marketing or related marketing area

+ Experience managing agency or vendor relationship required

+ Launch experience highly desired but not required

+ Field Sales experience desirable but not necessary

+ Demonstrated success executing complex marketing programs

+ Demonstrated ability to work effectively with varied internal stakeholders to improve business performance.

+ Demonstrated track record of achievement and of influencing business outcomes across diverse functional boundaries.

+ Demonstrated ability to manage advertising and other agencies to produce communications that impact business performance

+ Solid business acumen and organizational skills with excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills for a wide variety of audiences, including senior management.

+ Strong analytical skills; detail and action oriented; creative.

+ Experience with product positioning and branding is not necessary but would be desirable

+ Ability and experience in translating science into marketing messages.

+ Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively both one-on-one and in groups.

+ Self-motivated and a team player.

+ Demonstrated analytical skills.

+ Ability to effectively lead and influence an indirect team

+ Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver results on multiple, complex, competing projects in a deadline oriented environment

+ Ability to effectively lead a collaborative team environment.

+ Must be driven by success.

+ Must be able to organize multiple projects over time

+ Strong Presentation skills: Experience with presentations to large group using a variety of media.
