Position Description:
The Senior Manager SOCIAL MEDIA will be responsible for both driving the strategy of and execution behind THD's social media and marketing initiatives. This person and his/her team will be responsible for designing the strategy, owning editorial calendars, creating and curating content, as well as and implementing the plans related to the company’s social media channels. They will have a deep understanding of THD's products and services and the ability to translate that knowledge into the social media space. This includes strategic collaboration, tactical execution and measurement of marketing and social media efforts. Objectives include supporting merchandising and marketing priorities, growing engagement, as well as driving traffic and awareness.
This person will be responsible for overseeing the strategy, content creation for social media channels, as well as, listening and engagement within those channels. This person will be responsible for tracking, monitoring and reporting back results and feedback to key stakeholders within the company. Success will be determined by achieving goals as measured against defined social media objectives.
This person will work across functional groups (e.g. PR and Communications, Dot-com, Merchandising, Marketing, Logistics, IT, Field etc.) and external partners (agencies, etc.) to coordinate efforts and ensure success.


30% Work cross-functionally w/key stakeholders (e.g., Merchandising, Marketing, dot com, PR, & Social).Responsible for effectively driving education & partnerships internally/externally in organization to include Division Pres, SVPs & Mrkt mgrs, as well as Mktg & Merchants to align communication campaigns to business.
40% Program Mgmt -Design/execute communications strategy for Social campaigns (developing editorial calendars, positioning/messaging; responding to issues in conjunction w/legal/PR teams.Strategic recommendations on social media integration into business priorities; share knowledge w/ stakeholders.Direct external agency team
15% Listening/Trends –Explore/evaluate emerging social media opportunities & tools to build strategies & proposals for implementing effective Social Media campaigns to drive communication strategy for the organization. Listen, monitors the trends and conversations, translate insights into marketing plans
15% Reporting/Metrics -Ensure programs delivered on-time/ budget & determine effectiveness of social spend/ resource. Monitor effective benchmarks for measuring impact of social media programs, & analyze effectiveness of campaigns to maximize results. Analyze sales data, economic data, demographic/competitor info

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.


Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.

Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience:
6 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Additional Qualifications:

Knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel and MS Office
- Ability to understand the basics of technology associated with social media, customer communications, online marketing and eBusiness
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to think and respond quickly maintaining attention to detail
