Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
The Senior Manager, Merchandising Process Management - Merchandising Initiatives (MPM) plans and manages projects to design/implement improved merchandising business processes and to complete the business activities (process design, requirements definition, user training, change management, etc.) associated with the implementation of new merchandising information systems. May be responsible for managing more than one project at a time. Provides management leadership and development coaching/guidance to Business Analysts. The Senior Manager, Merchandise Process Management also provides management leadership to the MPM team in selected areas such as CBA development, recruiting coordination, and methodology development.


MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Staff, develop and manage the performance of the department's associates to support associate development and departmental effectiveness.
 Direct reports may include Managers, Supervisors and Professional Associates.
Oversees the management of large-scale process and information systems initiatives.
Partners with Merchandising clients (MVPs, Merchants, Staff) to effect process improvements, process change, business strategy analysis and usage of information technology.
Responsible to identify current and future (1-3 years) business process improvement opportunities.
Responsible for department expense/payroll planning and management; as well as overall MPM administration.

NATURE AND SCOPE
Typically reports to Director MAMS
Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. Planning, monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required. This may include direct supervision of a shift or the coordination of multiple work groups. Makes recommendations concerning selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. 

Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 6 years

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:
Significant requirement for managing others and applying company specific know-how in order to achieve key operating results. Example: Managing a functional area such as government affairs, employee benefits, store planning, credit, visual presentation, and district/regional store operations management.
Expertise in one or several technical or business administration disciplines.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies:

Proven leadership skills. Willing and able to create and manage associate development plans.
Experience and expertise using quantitative analysis methods and tools.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Able to communicate effectively with all levels of associates - including Sr. Management.
In-depth understanding of retail merchandising and operations, or related field. Cross-functional experience.
Proven management experience with business process evaluation, procedural definition and/or application systems design/development
Proven ability to manage in a project team environment; experience managing multiple projects, deadlines and priorities to meet commitments.
