Sr Project Engineer

Job Details


+ Provides project management for small and midsized capital projects.

+ Manages multiple capital projects simultaneously.

+ Projects could include process equipment installation/modification, facilities infrastructure, and/or utilities equipment installation/modification.

+ Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and team building strengths to interact with all disciplines and personnel levels


+ Develops and maintains the schedule and budget for assigned capital projects, managing from inception through turnover to the project functional owner.

+ Works with the functional owner of the project to develop scope and ensure at completion of project that the agreed to scope of the project is met.

+ Responsible for developing the capital project approval paperwork.

+ Responsible for pre-validation efforts for regulatory related projects assigned.

+ Provide reporting on planned and approved project schedule to customer, as well as, project engineering and site leadership.

+ Responsible for reporting cash flow to project engineering leadership on approved capital projects assigned.

+ Provide management oversight for all contract resources working on the execution of assigned approved capital projects. This would include productivity, following all safety and quality policies, and appropriate conduct.

+ Coordinates preparation of all project design documents and bid packages.

+ Reviews project design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.

+ Prepare change control documents where required for assigned projects.


+ Reports to manager to provide project updates and reviews to discuss problems/issues, and to establish future plans and priorities.

+ Work with internal customer base to coordinate and schedule project installation activities, to minimize operations/equipment disruptions, and to respond to their needs.

+ Work with contractors and vendors to solicit bids, to coordinate projects, to evaluate performance, to provide/obtain technical information, and to provide on site supervision and guidance.


+ Project Management - Requires knowledge and ability to plan, organize, and execute multiple capital projects

+ Engineering Knowledge - Knowledge of equipment and facilities from an engineering understanding perspective

+ Business Acumen - Knowledge of return on investment principles, asset depreciation methodology, cash flow estimating & predicting, and capital project costing principles.

+ Written Communications / Presentation Skills - Have good verbal and written skills. Can articulate issues and solutions to the team. Can produce effective project reports and presentations.

+ Customer Focus - Making internal and external customers and their needs a primary focus of one's actions; developing and sustaining productive customer relationships.


Minimum - BS in Engineering with 5 years of related experience preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.


+ Preferred- Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering degree

+ Preferred- Business related courses completed in engineering degree program or MBA curriculum started or degree completed

+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD

+ Demonstrated good writing and presentation skills

+ Demonstrated planning and organization skills, ability to multi-task

+ Knowledge of GMP standards and use of quality systems tools

+ It is a position requirement that on occasion the colleague works weekends and off shift.
