What you'll do at

The Walmart International eCommerce team delivers the product road-map and engineering capabilities for our international businesses in UK and Canada. Our group has a global mandate with focus on emerging markets and global development , so our experiences touch lives around the world. This is an opportunity to solve complex challenges in cross-border e-commerce. We are looking for engineers who will bring not only an abundance of experiences in technologies, but an abundant curiosity to innovate!
• Develops Innovation strategies, processes, and best practices
• Supports business objectives and drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects
• Leads and participates in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects
• Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity
• Utilizes industry research to improve Wal-Mart's technology environment
• Focused to deliver a best practice customer e-commerce experience
• The eagerness to change the world in a huge way by being a self-motivated learner and builder

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or related field from a rigorous program
• 5+ years software development experience with object-oriented design and coding, Java or Python preferred
• A strong algorithm background in at least one of the following: machine-learning, data mining, nlp, search relevance, or information retrieval
• RDBMS experience, MySQL or Oracle.
• Proven industry experience with large scale distributed systems
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to achieving objectives
• Customer, End User, and Impact focused
• Flexible and adaptive in ambiguous environments
• Passion for consumer experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Startup experience
• ECommerce expereince / international payments / logistics experience
• Experience with Big Data / Hadoop and NoSQL preferred
• Experience with Spark, Pig or Hive preferred
