The Global Technical Operations team builds and runs the infrastructure for one of the largest 24/7 e-commerce operations in the world. Position Summary

Position Summary
Responsible for database administration in a mission-critical, 24/7 environment. Support systems including e-commerce, accounting, customer service, and warehouse management and decision support. Follow technical direction and dependably execute operational responsibilities. Deploy and manage mission critical databases. Provide 24/7 on-call database operational support on rotation basis. Develop scripts and other programs for system monitoring and maintenance. Deploy strategies for backups, migration of databases changes, and longer term system growth. Identify and resolve more than 95% issues proactively with Oracle database monitoring tools. Ensure the database has sufficient capacity to meet peak season forecasts with 25% margin, while maintaining consistent response time. Effectively follow change management guidelines for all the changes made to the production and pre-production databases. Contribute to implementation of database/site scalability/capacity architecture to support 3x business growth. Implement projects resulting from Failure Point Analysis. Work with software development team to identify the database requirements for application deployment.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have a Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related field and 7+ years of experience working with databases in a 24x7 Environment or related experience.
Skills required
Must have experience with
Oracle Database running on UNIX, Solaris or Linux in a Production env
Strong Shell Scripting experience.
Must have strong knowledge of PL/SQL and experience assisting developers with writing SQL and Pl/SQL Code
Strong SQL tuning experience
Must have strong experience with backup and recovery processes using RMAN and Comvault.
Excellent knowledge of database high availability solutions like Data Guard, RAC, Physical and logical standby databases, streams and Golden Gate replication.
Knowledge of Database performance analysis and tuning is must.
Experience with VERITAS Quick I/O, Net backup, and Volume Manager is preferred.

1+year experience leading technical projects. 3+ years application tuning experience. 4+ years experience handling advanced database installations and troubleshooting. 4+ years experience supporting two or more databases.
