The Walmart International team delivers the product roadmap and engineering capabilities across every device for our international businesses in the UK (ASDA), Canada and Mexico. In addition, this team also drives the technology strategy and operational excellence across international markets.

Position Description

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

- Leads and participates in medium to large scale, complex, cross-functional projects.

- Work with product managers and business teams to understand the business problems and develop data-driven solutions.

- Hands on development on building n-tier applications using Java, Spring, Hibernate, RDBMS, application servers like JBOSS, Tomcat and related technologies.

- Demonstrates up-to-date expertise in Software Engineering and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans.

- Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community

-Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects

- Troubleshoots business and production issues.

- Work in a high-performance team environment - sharing innovative ideas and working collaboratively across teams.

- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with technical and non-technical cross-functional teams.

- Provide guidance and mentorship to the junior engineers.

+ Develops Innovation strategies, processes, and best practices

+ Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects

+ Ensures business needs are being met

+ Leads and participates in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects

+ Leads the discovery phase of medium to large projects to come up with high level design

+ Leads the work of other small groups of six to ten engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects

+ Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity

+ Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates

+ Supports business objectives

+ Troubleshoots business and production issues

+ Utilizes industry research to improve Wal-Mart's technology environment

Minimum Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Computer Science or a related technical discipline and 9 years of software engineering experience

- 9+ years of object-oriented programming expertise in Java, or similar language

- Experience building highly scalable, high performant web services using Java, Spring, JAX-RS

- Experience with web/app containers such as Apache/Tomcat, Jboss

- Solid knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture and experience building RESTful web-services

- Solid knowledge of Spring and batch processing frameworks like SpringBatch

- Strong knowledge in data structures, ORM and relational databases

- Experience building real-time data pipelines using Kafka

- Experience in Agile Methodology

- Solid vision to eliminate tech debt and architectural improvements

- Strong aptitude for writing efficient and readable code

- Ability to write automated unit/integration test cases

- Attitude to thrive in a fun, fast-paced start-up like environment

- A self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced and agile development environment

- Solid understanding of GitHub and open source development culture in general

- Experience with eCommerce Catalog and item setup a huge plus
