Position Summary:

The Staffing Coordinator assists the facility in direct care by staffing schedules to ensure the quality of care in accordance with regulatory guidelines. Coordinates employee requests, unscheduled absences, and maintains and monitors staffing records.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring changing staffing needs based upon acuity and average daily census. Communicates necessary staffing changes to supervisors
  • Maintains records of personnel absence and tardiness for nursing services
  • Maintains an accurate list of available staff, maintains the supervisors book for accuracy
  • Monitors overtime and initiates necessary actions to keep overtime at a minimum 
  • Provides emergency coverage to units. Maintains professional demeanor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

This opportunity is available to individuals who meet the following requirements:

  • Two year business degree or equivalent experience required
  • Medical terminology and computer experience necessary
  • Skills in office organization, decision-making, prioritizing, problem-solving, and time management
  • Basic math skills, excellent typing skills, attention to detail
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and knowledge of telephone etiquette is required
  • Ability to interact in a positive manner and to communicate well with co-workers, supervisor and other hospital employees
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to maintain information as highly confidential
  • Able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift & grasp
  • Successful completion of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) & CPR within 90 days of employment
