The Strategy and Operations Lead will work as part of the Early Clinical Development (ECD) Strategy & Operations function that is responsible for providing the expertise, frameworks and tools to enable sound business planning, strategic thought partnership, clinical operations and robust collaboration & project management to advance the early development portfolio.

This role will entail working with multiple senior stakeholders in ECD and across Pfizer performing project management and project coordination for strategic initiatives, project technical reviews and business planning activities. In addition, this role will work on managing important strategic projects through idea to implementation and is expected to support senior leadership team discussions at the ECD level. Interfaces regularly with department heads as well as colleagues from clinical functions and will be expected to interact appropriately with scientists, academic collaborators, and external organizations.

+ Help identify and drive strategic improvement opportunities within ECD - this includes both one-time and continuous improvement initiatives

+ Lead selected initiatives to advance ECD strategy and priorities including key supporting qualitative and quantitative analyses

+ Ensure that discreet deliverables are well characterized with associated timing, resources, quality parameters, and interdependencies across lines

+ Manage project teams from the standpoint of logistics, communication, resource management and team effectiveness to ensure delivery of projects on time and on budget

+ Work closely with team members and key stakeholders to consolidate information and develop strategies/action plans. Identify internal or external impacts to strategies and plans; lead the team in characterizing the impacts, and proactively work with team members and subject matter experts to develop options for overcoming obstacles, mitigating shortfalls, and managing risks.

+ Assist Portfolio and/or Technical Review Committees (PRC/TRC) Co-Chairs with regular management and follow-up on portfolio technical reviews across Immunology and Inflammation, Internal Medicine, or Rare Disease

+ Provide project management support PRCs/TRCs to ensure prioritization of portfolio topics including collation of pre-read material, meeting coordination/management, agenda management, knowledge management, minutes, and action tracking

+ Work closely with support staff to ensure PRCs/TRCs are scheduled and updated to reflect the relevant stakeholders and topics; optimize meeting frequency as required to meet portfolio demands

+ Responsible to support the efficient conduct of governance processes for WRD committees (PRC/TRC) and for monitoring the operational effectiveness of the committees through robust set of metrics

+ Continuous Improvement - propose efforts to streamline and enhance PRCs/TRCs including analysis and reviews or topics/options presented at PRCs/TRCs

+ Coordinate resource management for ECD functions and partners with ECD functional heads across Immunology and Inflammation, Internal Medicine, or Rare Disease

+ Present resourcing analyses and needs to members of the ECD LT and/or Extended LT

+ Develop and maintain the tools and process to ensure updated and accurate deployment and tracking of resources against the early clinical development portfolio including identifying new portfolio projects for resourcing

+ Maintain and regularly update resourcing demand algorithms to assess resource demand from actuals

+ Propose and lead continuous improvement efforts to streamline and enhance resource management

+ Prepare reports by collecting and analyzing information.

+ Proactively identify or anticipate issues and use judgment to expeditiously resolve all issues including the most urgent

+ Maintain professional knowledge base and seek opportunities to enhance skills and abilities; seek new areas of responsibility and perform new tasks; recommend process improvements.

+ Handle all duties with a high degree of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.

**Work and Educational Experience**

+ 5-7 years of experience in the biopharma industry (including R&D experience), either at biopharma company and/or top-tier management consulting firm with pharma focus

+ 5+ years of experience and demonstrated skills in portfolio, resource and/or project management in a large, complex organization.

+ Advanced degree in drug development relevant topic - M.Sc., Pharm.D., or Ph.D. in life sciences preferred

+ MBA or hands on demonstrated experience in a variety of key business models and frameworks preferred

+ Experience in communicating and interacting with senior stakeholders.

+ Experience and familiarity with the Pfizer organization, particularly R&D/Business Units a plus

**Skill Set**

+ In-depth understanding of pharma R&D strategy, processes and operations, with proven track record

+ Strong understanding of drug development

+ Advanced knowledge of and/or experience in drug development, relevant disciplines may include Clinical Development, Project Management, Statistics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Drug Safety, and Medical Writing.

+ Well organized, creative, independent, self-motivated individual with exceptional presentation, written, and oral communication skills.

+ Strategic thinker; strong analytical and problem solving skills and business acumen; influencing skills at a global, cross-line level.

+ Strong project management skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; the ability to respond to tight timelines; as well as, the capability to interact with all levels of the organization in a professional and discrete manner.

+ Possess high energy, sense of urgency, creativity, decisiveness, ability to work well under pressure

+ Must be a strategic thinker; strong analytical and business skills.

+ Ability to navigate global organization and create alignment & network of colleagues across levels.

+ Ability to lead complex matrixed teams and experience in working with/presenting to senior executives

+ Well organized, creative, independent, self-motivated individual with exceptional presentation, written, and oral communication skills

+ Ability to motivate others to maintain a high and consistent level of excellence in strategy development, project management and outcomes

+ Successful experience leading and developing an effective team working with resources not under direct control.

+ Demonstrated ability to transform collections of ideas into finished products and to manage a wide variety of activities while accounting for changing priorities.

+ Excellent Technical Skill working with SharePoint; Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
