Job Description

Provides on-going monitoring of Therapists job performance utilizing peer review process, medical record reviews, and individual supervisory sessions. Such monitoring identifies where therapist job performance is adequate and where further improvement is required. Works with assigned line therapists to facilitate enhanced job performance in areas where need for such improvement has been identified. Also, works with assigned line therapists in improving professional knowledge and skills pertaining to treatment planning and implementation as part of the on-going development of all therapy staff. As needed, counsels and reports on performance of assigned line therapists per school policy. Effectively communicates with line therapists to assure they remain aware of school policies and regulations, and changes in these, especially as they affect therapists. As needed, provides support services to patients’ parents, legal guardians, and significant others regarding the effective resolution of concerns or problems, assuring the correct understanding of school policies and eliciting support for these policies, and in responding to these persons when the line therapist is not available. Provides oversight and direction in assigning responsibility for a line therapist’s caseload during vacations, illnesses, and other absences. Fulfills other duties as assigned, including acting as a member of the Admissions Committee in reviewing submitted information for possible placement in the school, assisting in the interviewing and recruitment of line therapists, chairing treatment team meetings, participating in Department Managers Meeting and CAC meeting, and assisting with public relations tasks. Assists the Director of Therapy as needed, and assumes assigned responsibilities of that position in his/her absence, if required.

Completes data base documents (psycho-social assessment, vocational assessment, diagnostic summary) in a timely, accurate, and complete manner. Completes initial treatment plan per guidelines.  Individual treatment plans are completed within time frames. Treatment goals and objectives are based on diagnosis and patient need with parental/sponsor input, and objectives are observable and measurable.  Reviewed al least monthly and updated as needed. Completes progress notes for all therapy interventions in a timely manner, indicates interventions utilized, progress achieved, or if lack of progress, what treatment changes will be made.  Times, codes, and complete signatures are included in notes.

Job Requirements

Provides complete, accurate, and timely reports to School Districts, parole and other court officers, Third Party Payors, referral sources, and others so indicated per release of information procedures. Completes monthly progress reports to parents, legal guardians, and others as indicated per release of information procedures, in a timely and accurate manner. Demonstrates adequate knowledge of adolescent growth and development, including normal vs. abnormal behavior.  Also demonstrates adequate understanding of professional knowledge and skills pertaining to treatment planning and implementation, including effective treatment of chemical dependency when dictated by diagnosis of student. Provides individual, group, and family therapy according to patients’ treatment plans, utilizing recognized and professionally accepted treatment interventions.

Adheres to school and professional expectations, standards, and guidelines, in establishing and maintaining appropriate therapist/patient relationships.  This includes resident patients, families, and significant others who are involved in receiving treatment procedures. Works with parents, legal guardians, and significant others in gaining their support of, and participation in the patient’s treatment plan.  Demonstrates appropriate responsiveness to concerns that arise from these persons regarding treatment planning and implementation, and works effectively and empathetically to resolve identified concerns.
