Job Details

The Supervisor has responsibility for activities of the Microbiology Services Department's Environmental Compliance laboratory and personnel. The function requires familiarity of routine monitoring testing and associated responsibilities including evaluation of results and proper documentation. Test scheduling, monitoring of the environmental laboratory performance, periodic review of test procedures and laboratory equipment maintenance are also part of the activity. Training and assistance are provided to aseptic processing personnel in the area



of environmental trends and policy interpretation. Special studies may be required periodically. Stays current with company policies and operations, current Good Manufacturing Practices, and federal regulations and compendial requirements in regards to quality control testing.



This position will be for 3rd shift Monday through Friday 10pm-6:30am.







The essential responsibilities and duties for this position include but are not limited to:



*Support the Aseptic Processing Area of the pharmaceutical manufacturing building



*Become f amiliar with the knowledge necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities of all environmental compliance technicians.



*Supervises the day-to-day activities of the Environmental Compliance laboratory. Assures that the laboratories are properly equipped, personnel are trained, and work is performed in an expeditious manner.



*Provides timely results and accurate test interpretations in regard to all testing associated with Environmental Compliance. Approves testing data in a timely manner ensuring compliance with testing due dates.



*Provides Aseptic Compliance technical support to Manufacturing



*Provides input in quarterly and annual reports on facility microbiology and in-process test trends.



*Assists Microbiological Services personnel in ongoing training programs with laboratory and manufacturing personnel on proper aseptic behaviors and techniques.



*Provides assistance to laboratory personnel to improve safety.



*Assists Microbiological Services personnel with the implementation of new standards or compendial guidelines for pharmaceutical microbiology.



*Ascertains that monitoring equipment in the laboratory is calibrated.



*Initiation or review of investigational studies and reports.



*Initiation of review Laboratory Investigations and Notices of Events. Lead or participates in Quality Assurance Reports.



*Issues work orders for equipment repairs and schedules non-routine maintenance and sanitation.



*Review and approve validation protocols and reports related to microbiology and monitoring of the aseptic production area.







Qualifications:



Education: Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or Biology plus Experience listed below.



Experience: 2+ years related experience and/or training.







Technical Skills:



Possesses advanced practical ability and proficient skill with microbiological testing, laboratory instrumentation/equipment and software. The ability to apply mathematical and statistical concepts.



Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.



Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Be able to write clear and concise reports. Position requires regular onsite attendance - this position cannot be performed on a remote or telecommute basis on a temporary, short or long term basis.



Must have the ability to simultaneously multi-task across multiple capabilities and functions and handle multiple competing priorities and requirements, including performing site and functional responsibilities, responding to frequent e-mail and phone communications and attending multiple meetings and conference calls. Note that these activities may not be time bound to core hours or presence at the site.



Must have the ability to work effectively under and manage to strict production, time and performance deadlines.



Must be willing and able to work beyond the hours typically defined as a "regular" workday, which may or may not include weekends and holidays.







Physical/Mental Requirements:



The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 or more pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color and peripheral vision. In addition, the individual should have good depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Candidate must be able to pass aseptic gowning qualification testing to enter the aseptic processing area.
