Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Supervises, schedules, and evaluates all clinical and supportive pharmacy personnel as it relates to the clinical services provided, sterile compounding, inventory control and purchasing 3-5 Supervisors and 45-100 indirect technical clinical reports

  • Directs, coordinates and supervises all pharmacy activities including drug preparation, sterile product preparation, dispensing, and clinical pharmacy services.

  • Ensures that all pharmacy operations, practices and procedures meet all licensing and standards requirements established by local, state and federal agencies as well as accrediting bodies (e.g. TJC, ACHC, URAC)

  • Maintains clinical skills and knowledge of pharmacotherapy and intravenous therapy by reviewing the literature and attending in-services, seminars and conferences

  • Oversees in the procurement of drugs, supplies and equipment used in preparing and administering drugs

  • Oversees the clinical services offered by the branch as their related to both infusion and / or specialty services provided

  • Ensures compliance with all controlled substances related rules, regulations and Company policies

  • Maintains proper communication and coordination with other departments and staff

  • Develops and participates in educational programs for the company.

  • Will temporarily assume the role of the leader for the operation of the branch in the temporary absence of the General / Branch manager

  • Provides input to preparation of the budget

  • Prepares justification for additional personnel, equipment, and programs

  • Develops policies and procedures and assures compliance thereof

  • Leads branch Quality Management / Performance Improvement Program

  • Reviews data for quality / performance improvement measures

Required Qualifications:
  • BS Pharmacy or Pharm D
  • Current, unrestricted Pharmacist license 
  • Willing to obtain out of state pharmacist licenses required to support out of state pharmacy license PIC requirements
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, relationship and problem solving skills
  • Must be able to communicate and problem solve effectively with all levels and professional disciplines as well as with patients, families, staff, physicians
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous pharmacy leadership / supervisory experience
  • Working knowledge of the regulations and processes related to sterile compounding
  • Experience in Infusion or IV - Admixture
  • 3+ years of experience in a health care system
