Description DIRECTV's Uplink Facility Technical Services Department is seeking a Site Supervisor to work at the uplink facility located in New Hampton _, New Hampshire_ .

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

+ Ensure consistent, high quality analog and digital television signal transports and satellite transmissions.

+ Installation, diagnosis and maintenance of critical on-air video, audio, RF, baseband, signal processing, transport and transmission equipment. This responsibility includes DirecTV’s Mpeg 2 and Mpeg 4 Broadcast transmissions streams and all associated Local Collection Facilities, Broadcast Centers, Ground station Equipment, and associated Monitor and Control hardware.

+ Supervision of the Technical Services staff including employee scheduling

+ Oversee daily operations and technical issues. Prepare & submit detailed weekly status reports for site specific issues & on-going initiatives.

+ Oversee installation and cabling of new equipment into the facility (Engineering and Vendor/Contract support)

+ Proficiency in a variety of television broadcast, transport, and transmission equipment. That will include but not limited to:

1. High power transmitters (Klystron & Travelling Wave Tube)

2. Antenna tracking systems

3. Up/Downlink signal processors

4. Video receivers

5. Digital video compression systems

6. Analog and digital audio/video distribution amplifiers and routers

7. Analog-to-digital and digital-to analog converters

8. Fiber transmitters, fiber receivers and optical cabling

9. Video and audio monitoring systems

10. Reference pulse and time code systems

11. CISCO systems routers

12. Digital Transport Stream Analyzers

13. Video over IP transmission hardware

14. Modulation and demodulation hardware

15. Antenna De-Ice subsystems

16. Proficiency in site facility systems, assist with vendor service contracts and emergency building system repairs as needed.

17. Detailed knowledge of site layout, mechanical & electrical architecture. (CRAC units, Chillers, pumps, Generator, Transfer Switch, UPS & Battery systems, Fire Alarm & Sprinkler system…etc

18. Review of daily Incident & Task tickets, Change Tickets, scheduled maintenance and technician work log entries. Coaching of personnel for accurate and detailed information in log entries.

19. Scheduling & Prioritization of RUF maintenance

20. Attendance of daily Broadcast OPS and Technical Review board meetings to coordinate issues across sites.

21. Training and development of new and existing employees. Documentation of Core Competencies completion and Technical Qualifications for professional growth.

22. _Ensuring a collaborative, team oriented work environment, and addressing any personnel conflicts in adherence with current HR policies. Must be capable of initiating and sustaining Corrective/Disciplinary actions if/when necessary._

23. Weekly review & approval of timecards for non-exempt employees. Review & approval of overtime, vacation requests.

24. Review & approval of expense reports & travel receipts for site personnel

25. Vendor contracts and generation of purchase orders.

26. Maintain site operation expense budgets and completion of weekly invoice approvals.

27. Ensure site asset inventory accuracy including shipping/receiving.

28. Ensure adequate levels of site equipment sparing.

29. Organize and schedule routine preventative maintenance on various subsystems.

30. Assist in project research, design, planning, implementation, procedure documentation and training.

31. EHS compliance of Technical Staff and SPCC coordinator functions

32. Complete mid-year & annual performance evaluations and appraisals of Technical staff

33. Draft & Submission of Promotion Justification documents for employees when applicable, adhering to current HR requirements.

34. Must operate with a mindset of inclusion & transparency, freely sharing information with personnel across various departments.

35. Summarize and Present Technical information in both verbal and written form

36. Ensure that all common site procedures & workflows are captured in well documented SOP’s and maintain a RUF/DUF specific set of regularly updated process flows.

37. Front Line representation of DIRECTV RCO organization with various local vendors.

38. Coordinating with internal Engineering/Broadcast Project groups for PDR/CDR/Implementation phases of projects. Ensure local site documentation is kept updated & accurate.

39. Occasional travel to represent site at Technical/Operational design meetings


40. Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred (1+ year).

41. Associates degree, certificate or equivalent specialized training in electronics and/or related systems is preferred.

42. 3-5 years technical maintenance or equivalent military experience with electronics, communication, television broadcast or Earth Station processes and equipment

43. Experience should include knowledge in troubleshooting, analyzing relationships between components within television systems and IT transport systems, conducting routine maintenance and utilizing transport and spectrum analyzers, waveform/vector scopes, and other test equipment.

44. Experience installing cabling and new equipment, interpreting wiring diagrams/schematics and working with engineers to test and integrate new systems.

45. Must possess knowledge with LAN, WAN, and computer technologies including the ability to learn various computer applications and internal programs critical to television broadcast processing and transport.

46. Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal

47. Must have the ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment with changing priorities.

48. Physical requirements:

1. Must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

2. Ability to climb external antenna system ladders and work at heights up to 30 ft.

3. Dexterity to work in confined spaces down to 16 cubic ft.

4. Ability to work inclement weather.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

5. Must have a valid state driver’s license with no restrictions.

6. All candidates must be willing to carry a company provided on-call phone, participate in a cyclic on-call rotation, and must reside less than 45 minute drive time from the main uplink facility.

7. Must have a negative pre-employment drug test.

8. Criminal and MVR background must meet company hiring criteria.

9. The uplink facility is a 24x7 facility and requires the ability to work various shifts, including holidays and overtime as necessary to support the on-air mission.

10. Minimal travel via commercial airline required on occasion (<25% travel)
