**ROLE SUMMARY**



The primary function of this position is to support operations relating to the supplier quality program. The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for the planning, execution, tracking, and completion of key supplier audits for suppliers used by both the site and Hospira globally. The position manages supplier issues and risks while communicating information to procurement, site management, and program management. This function assesses the supplier's capability of meeting manufacturing standards. The various standards could include ISO, FDA, cGMP, EU, PIC/S, etc.







**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**







+ Perform supplier risk assessments coordinating data from multiple disciplines within the site and corporation.



+ Audit suppliers against appropriate global requirements and provide written reports to auditees and management while following up on corrective actions.



+ Liaise with procurement, supplier, and site management to resolve site supplier quality issues and identify trends to assure compliance with regulatory requirements.



+ Accumulates key metrics for presentation to Management team, including supplier related concerns and issues, noted trends and compliance concerns. Responsible for compilation of supplier metrics for Annual Product Quality Reviews.



+ Responsible for maintaining working knowledge of cGMPs and emerging regulatory and compliance concerns as related to supplier quality.







**QUALIFICATIONS**







+ Requires Bachelor's Degree plus three years' experience in Pharmaceutical industry or equivalent.



+ Requires strong oral, written, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.



+ Competence in college level mathematics and/or statistics preferred.



+ Must possess working knowledge of PC and software.



+ The position is self-directed and requires an appropriate level of education and experience to make and act upon decisions that impact the site from a Supplier Quality standpoint.



+ A minimum of 3 years quality/regulatory experience with multiple disciplinary experiences in a regulated industry. Healthcare and/or food industry experience is preferred.



+ Requires thorough knowledge of GMP's.



+ Effective communications skills required, both written and verbal.



+ Requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle multiple projects.







**PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS**







+ Must provide evaluations, data, and reports to manager concerning trends in issues.



+ Some examples of the problems encountered that would require resolution would be the evaluation of similar supplier issues, exception trending, and incident trends.



+ Problem solving skills are required in the following day to day activities: situations that are not procedurally managed and interaction with suppliers.







**NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS**



Candidate must be able to travel approximately 20%.
