Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs the primary function of a Sterile Processing Technician Supervisor in assessing, planning, directing, and evaluating proper decontamination and sterilization of instrumentation and hospital equipment as well as, preparing and maintaining departmental reports and records.  The Sterile Processing Supervisor shall oversee and guide Sterile Processing Technicians that are under his / her supervision in department.  He / She will be responsible for interacting with hospital staff and / or ancillary departments regarding decontamination / sterilization concerns, and conflicts by identifying and assisting in the resolutions.  The Sterile Processing Supervisor routinely works weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, overtime, and/or on an on-call/call-back status.  (This position summary contains the most relevant duties and responsibilities and does not exclude other assignments not mentioned.)

 

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum of three years experience in the operating room and / or sterile processing.

  2. Must have and maintain central sterile certification.

  3. Must have a good understanding of rules and regulations concerning sterilization and aseptic techniques.

  4. Prefer twoyears of previous supervisory experience.

  5. Must be versatile with pleasing personality to maintain rapport with medical and clinical staff.

  6. Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with clinical and administrative staff.

  7. Must be able to add and subtract quantities or units of stock supplies when requisitioning supplies and depositing inventories, and / or budgeting.

  8. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.

     

EDUCATION / LICENSURE:

  1. High school diploma/GED
