Position Summary:

Responsible for the effective coordination and supervision of the daily operation of phlebotomy services, outpatient, and off-site phlebotomy locations, is responsible for supervision and over-sight of waived and assigned non-waived point of care testing and processing of reference lab specimens. This includes scheduling, training, competency assessments, budgeting that promotes cost containment, and the recognition of pre-analytical and POCT analytical issues or problems that require referral to the Medical Director and Director. Responsible for the maintenance of policies and procedures, quality control monitoring and practices, proficiency testing, and integration of the assigned section or shift into the overall functioning of the Department and Northwest Texas Healthcare System. Over-sight and supervision of section/shift activities and staff will be in accordance with established Hospital, Department, and regulatory policies and procedures. The Phlebotomy/Reference Lab/POCT Coordinator supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: 1. Minimum Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with a major in medical laboratory technology, microbiology, biology, chemistry, or related science. Minimum Work Experience: Five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience, including phlebotomy, preferred 3. Certifications: American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) required. Other: Must meet the personnel requirements as outlined by CLIA ‘88. 4. Mathematical, computer, reasoning and language skills at the undergraduate or graduate level required.
