Job Description


  • Patient Safety-In collaboration with manager, works with Medical Staff and other departments to ensure coordination and integration of clinical processes to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance. Patient Rounding meets or exceeds hospital and department goals.

  • Customer Service/Guest Relations – Role model for coordinating and integrating interdepartmental services. Identifies hospital or departmental problems, suggests plans to resolve issues, implements and evaluates plans with assistance and approval of Director/Manager. Demonstrates effective communication skills; handles complaints in a timely and effective manner; participates in conflict resolution.

  • Quality – Active member of performance improvement activities in the department. Active participant in concurrent record reviews for completeness of documentation of nursing care.

  • Policy Development – In partnership with the Director/Manager, develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services. Provides input for Policy and Procedure development.

  • COBRA/HIPAA – With instruction from the Director/Manager, assures compliance with all mandated state and federal regulations.

  • Screens and completes HPRR’s pertinent to department, identifies trends and collaborates with Director/Manager to resolve issues.


  • Staffing – Assists with the oversight of the monthly staff schedule to maintain adequate daily staffing levels.

  • Performance Evaluations – Participates in staff development/evaluation of competency, performance reviews, and counseling. Completes and presents staff evaluations timely and respectfully.  

  • Staff Development – Actively participates in the orientation, in-service training and continuing education of all personnel; maintains accurate and complete competency files.

  • Supports hospital vision and behavioral standards to include compassion, courage, trust, and innovation.

  • Adheres to System, Facility, and Department leadership vision and goals.

  • Fosters and maintains a trusting, friendly and cohesive relationship with all departments within the facility.


  • Is able to function as a clinical resource to maintain a high level of nursing standards.

  • Follows the five rights of medication administration and maintains transcription accuracy.

  • Administers blood products and IV therapy per hospital policy.

  • Able to function and team lead effectively in an emergent patient care situation.

Knowledgeable and consistently enforces hospital policies and procedures as outlined in Lippincott’s Nursing Procedures manual.

Job Requirements
  • BSN preferred, Bachelors with CA RN license considered
  • Registered Nurse with current California RN license required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Current ACLS certification required
  • Basic EKG/Tele interpretation experience required
  • Two (2) years of recent department specific experience required
  • One (1) year of recent charge nurse, supervisory expertise in PCU preferred
  • Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing program required
