Description As a member of the Asia Pacific Tax Team and AT&T Tax Department, the Tax Manager - ASEAN will provide support to the AVP - Tax, Asia/Pacific as well as HQ in attending to all direct and indirect tax matters of the business operations of AT&T in the ASEAN countries. The Tax Manager - ASEAN will also serve as a key value contributor to the business partners in supporting the business expansion of AT&T in the ASEAN countries.

**Roles and Responsibilities:**

• Ensure proper tax compliance for all direct tax and indirect taxes filing and payments in all ASEAN countries for AT&T’s business operations through regular review of local tax laws, close coordination with local finance/ controller colleagues and external tax advisors.

• Provide support for the maintenance, updating and compliance for all BEPS, Transfer Pricing (Master/ Local Files and CbCR) requirements for the ASEAN countries.

• Work with AVP - Tax, Asia/Pacific to formulate advantageous tax strategy for AT&T and provide in-house tax advice on corporate and individual income tax matters to optimize AT&T’s tax position in all the ASEAN countries.

• Coordinate and manage all local direct and indirect tax audits, objections, appeals and litigation in all the ASEAN countries for AT&T with support from local finance/ controller colleagues and external tax advisors.

• Assess tax impact and, together with inputs from external tax advisors, provide local tax advice in the following areas: business reorganization and restructuring; general business matters such as tax implication on customer contracts, service deployment, billing arrangement and importation of equipment.

• Provide support to HR on tax issues related to cross-border assignments, compensation, benefits and severance packages.

• Work with local finance/ controller colleagues to ensure that all HQ’s requests for tax reporting packages/ information are properly prepared and submitted on a timely basis and any follow-up queries from HQ are being addressed promptly.

• Keep AVP - Tax, Asia/Pacific and HQ informed of any new tax development in all the ASEAN countries.

• Work with AVP - Tax, Asia/Pacific and finance/ controller colleagues to develop systems, controls and procedures to ensure accuracy in tax provisioning, deferred tax calculations and tax payment.

**Key Competencies and Skills:**

• 8 to 12 years experience with minimum of 5 + years post-qualification full time experience gained from working at Revenue Department (such as the IRAS) or tax department of US based MNCs/ Big Four.

• In-depth technical knowledge of indirect tax for at least one major ASEAN country plus good understanding of international tax concepts and tax rules in region. Understanding of US international tax rules.

• High ethical standards.

• Self-motivated, a team player while being able to work independently under pressure.

• Effective communicator and strong supporter and executer of HQ’s policies and standards.

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

• Demonstrated ability to develop process improvements necessary to minimize taxes while maximizing productivity.

• Excellent verbal and writing skills; fluent in English.

**Education and Qualifications:**

• Minimum University graduate major in accounting, finance or law.

• Qualified member of a professional body, e.g. Chartered Accountants.

**Additional Information:**

• As this tax colleague will need to work with both regional and in-country colleagues, a high flexibility and adaptability to different cultures is required.

• Occasional travel among the ASEAN countries, to US HQ and AP HQ is required.
