McDowell Center for Children is seeking a dynamic and talented Teacher's  Aide for our Residential Treatment Center for teenage boys.  The residents are ages from 12 - 18  years of age and stay at our facility on average from 4 - 6 months.  The residents could experience mental health, behavioral, and/or substance abuse issues.  They attend school year round Monday - Friday. 

The Teacher's Aide assists the teachers in providing a safe and positive classroom environment for the residents.  The Teacher's Aide communicates with the school systems that the residents have attended and secure their school records to properly  enroll them into our school software.  The Teacher's Aide continues to communicate with the school system to report their progress and documents the progress throughout their stay at McDowell.  Once the Resident's leave McDowell the Teacher's Aide provides the school their final grades.  They also send out school records upon requests for former residents.

The Teacher's Aid also fills in for the classroom teachers when they need to be out. 

Job Requirements

Completion of some college hours preferred; high school diploma required

One year experience working with a psychiatric resident population preferred.
