Teacher, Certified (SPED Preferred) – Wyoming Behavioral Institute, Casper, Wyoming

Wyoming Behavioral Institute, a UHS Facility, is seeking a dynamic and talented:

Teacher (SPED Preferred) with Math Emphasis

POSITION SUMMARY:  Works as a salaried employee to perform the duties of Teacher in the accredited in-hospital school.   Must be able to teach & deliver educational curriculum to pre-school through high school age students in core subject areas: Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science and Health. Emphasis on Math curriculum or specialty skill in math through pre-calculus is highly preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Must be able to teach pre-school through high school age students in core subject areas: Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science and Health.  Emphasis on Math curriculum or specialty skill in math through pre-calculus is highly preferred.
  • Develop curriculum that follows Wyoming State standards and benchmarks.  Standards must be aligned for all lessons, units and projects with the ability to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Provide correctives and enrichments for students who fail to meet or who exceed the standards.
  • Able to prepare and make recommendations to IEP goals along specified guidelines. Ability to modify lessons accordingly to meet IEP goals and student needs.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location, as well as the needs and capabilities of the students.
  • Able to assess all core subject areas according to Wyoming State standards and benchmarks by maintaining progress tracking of standards and benchmarks as well as traditional grades.
  • Keep accurate, complete and correct educational records by preparing monthly staffing reports for RTP and discharge summaries including progress toward standards, student’s individualized educational program description, strengths, weakness, classroom behavior and recommendations
  • Able to assign and track homework for students not in Wyoming Behavioral Institute curriculum.
  • Structure the assigned classroom environment so that it is conductive to learning and is appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
  • Develop a schedule/routine for students and guidelines for appropriate classroom expectations for behavior and conduct.

Other Functions:

  • Encourage all students to set and maintain appropriate behaviors.
  • Follow assigned behavior plan or behavioral interventions as determined by the treatment team or supervisor.
  • Relates complete and pertinent information in verbal and written communication.
  • Initiates and maintains open and effective communication with the teaching staff, physicians, the multidisciplinary team members and other department associates.
  • Demonstrates appropriate communication skills by sharing, clarifying, reflecting and interpreting.
  • Demonstrates Understanding of Patient Rights and Delivers Care in Accordance With Policies and Procedures

Wyoming Behavioral Institute serves the citizens Wyoming by providing Inpatient and Residential Psychiatric care. Located in Casper, Wyoming, we are a 110- bed acute care hospital with residential care. Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Required to have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and be Certified by the State of Wyoming and eligible for an institutional endorsement.  SPED credential or certification is preferred, but not required.  Must be able to teach & deliver educational curriculum to pre-school through high school age students in core subject areas: Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science and Health.::
