Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents

Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents, a 110 bed state licensed and Joint Commission accredited specialty rehabilitation hospital, is located on 98 acres of riverfront land between Richmond and Williamsburg, Virginia in New Kent County. We provide specialized care for young people whose disabilities, injuries or lifelong illnesses are compounded by emotional and/or behavioral problems. We currently have a Special Education Teacher Full-Time position available teaching children and adolescents on the Autism Spectrum with severe developmental disabilities.

Job Requirements

The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:

  • Provides education to all students assigned according to State and Federal regulations.
  • Completes all documentation in a professional and timely manner.
  • Participates in various teams to maximize educational impact and assure integration of all services to patients and residents.
  • Fulfills responsibilities to the hospital in adherence to philosophy and general policy.
  • Works cooperatively and professionally as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Patients are primarily K-12 special education students.
  • 7. 5.5 hours of instruction time each day.
  • 8.  Provides year round instruction.

Job Requirements:
The following are the job requirements for the Full-Time Special Education Teacher position:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or Master's Degree in Special Education with a specialty area in Intellectual Disabilities, Emotional Disturbances, or Learning Disabilities.
  • At least three year’s experience preferred with the specific age group being hired for.
  • Current Virginia State Teaching License with endorsements in Special Ed, ID, or ED or Adaptive Curriculum REQUIRED
