This role is a Team Lead position reporting to the Pipeline Delivery Lead in Pfizer Essential Health. Pfizer Essential Health (PEH) includes i.) brands that have lost market exclusivity and generally the mature patent protected products that are expected to lose exclusivity through 2015 in most major markets, ii) the Sterile Injectables (SI) business iii) Biosimilars and iv.) current and future established products growth initiatives.







The SI business is a $7B+ segment for PEH and one of the key pillars of the PEH growth strategy.







The Global SI strategy is comprised of 3 key pillars: 1) Re-vitalize the Base 2) Change the Game to Complex, and 3) Grab ex-US Leadership. The complex portfolio development is a key strategic growth pillar for Global SI providing opportunity for leadership and development.







This role is responsible for prioritizing growth opportunities with a focus on complex assets, determining which products should be further pursued, create asset strategies, and providing commercial leadership in the development process.







They must take a General Manager mindset to lead cross-functional teams while ensuring a balanced portfolio, be responsible for creating business cases and gaining approval for new molecules. Pipeline



Commercial responsibility for complex assets in development providing direction and collaboration with R&D to develop and guide the complex portfolio



Serve as co-lead with R&D for those complex assets within direct responsibility



Developing business cases to secure funding and prioritize initiatives



Ensuring successful portfolio shift from small molecule (straight copy ANDAs/abbreviated new drug application) to complex assets (difficult to manufacture API, difficult technology for manufacturing, may require bio-equivalence clinical studies for approval)



Maintaining knowledge of external players to inform Business Development (BD)



Maintaining a perspective across the portfolio through monthly regional pipeline reviews, New Product Launch (NPL) process, Sales & Operating Plan (S&OP) process



Assigning products to team



Serve as the commercial lead for all regions for assets within responsibilities



Providing guidance for shaping regional priorities



Owning strategic elements in terms of framing asset strategy and driving development execution



Leading execution of timely, global launches including working with regional counterparts



Responsible for overseeing the development of global launch strategies to support launch, incorporating market formation expectations, and translating launch strategies into commercial forecasts and scenario planning







Interfaces with Regional representatives (Regional Presidents, Commercial leads, SI leads), R&D (Regulatory, Development, ESD, Program Management), Pfizer Global Supply (PGS), Quality, API Sourcing, Operations), Intellectual Property, Commercial (Pipeline, On Market, Lifecycle management (LCM), BD)







Manages a Director of Pipeline Development







Educational Requirements:



Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences or similar discipline is required; MBA strongly preferred







Key capabilities required:



A minimum of 10 years of generic pharmaceutical industry experience is required



Balance team leadership experience with hands on individual contribution (be a leader of people and lead individual assets)



Balance analytical capabilities (P&Ls, forecasting) with being a strategic thinker of longer term asset/portfolio vision



Global portfolio management experience is required (LCM upstream and commercial development). On Market experience is preferred



product development and/or commercialization including 3 years of lifecycle product management or project management experience in the Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences fields



Market / P&L experience ideal including launch



Strong analytics and financial acumen along with comfort with ambiguity and speed of decision making



Strong leadership & influencing skills; ability to lead within a matrix management environment







Candidates should have demonstrated:



Experience with both development and commercialization of products



Self-starter with successful track record of achieving product line goals



Demonstrated ability to effectively distill a large amount of complex customer, clinical, market, and technical data from multiple sources into a clear product value proposition and to articulate and communicate this value proposition to a range of customer and internal audiences



Strong analytical skills with experience with financial forecasts and modeling or data analysis skills. Ability to build and analyze financial models to forecast and track results



Proven ability to build relationships and work effectively as a leader and/or team member with cross-functional teams including R&;D, clinical, operations, commercial, finance, legal, and business development



Familiarity with product development and project management methodologies in regulated environments



Demonstrated success in managing multiple stakeholders and resolving conflict within teams



Excellent communication skills including oral, written and presentation techniques
