Sandy Pines is an 145 bed residential psych facility servicing children and adolescents ages 5 to 17.  The facility is located in beautiful sub-tropical South Florida and is nestled beside Johnathan Dickerson State Park which creates a rustic, roomy outdoor atmosphere.  SandyPines is at the countyline of both Palm Beach and Martin Counties and is just minutes away from the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.

The Mental Health Tech position is a front line, entry level position that is responsible for the direct patient care of our children and adolescent residents under the supervision of the Unit Program Supervisor and Registered Nurse on duty.  The MHT ensures the safety and well being of the residents while supporting the therpeutic milieu.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (This list is not all inclusive and only  lists  highlights of the position)

  • Conducts 15 minute checks on residents
  • Thoroghly and consistantly documents significant events in a timely manner and per policy and procedures
  • Effectively completes delegated resident care (e.g., vital signs, weight, height, specimen collection, etc.)
  • Effectively de0escaltes residents, utilizing CPI and Verbal De-Escalation techniques
  • Establishes rapport and utilizes therapeutic communication skills and appropriate boundaries with all residents
  • Effectively supervise residents while in SandyPines and on transports, outings, medical appointments and other activities according to MD order
  • Effectively facilitates and documents groups and community meetings
  • Flexible and cooperative in accepting increase or change in workload, and change of schedule to meet the needs of the facility
  • Complete Service Excellence Training and adhere to the three Service Excellence Standards:  Treat everyone as a guest,  Demonstrate professionalism and excellence in the things you do,  Practice Teamwork
Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School level reading and writing skills
  • Acceptable oral and written communication skills
  • Legible handwriting
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Professional phone etiquette and excellent customer service skills
  • At least one year of experience with children and adolescents preferred
  • Previous Psych experience would be preferred
