As the Health Care Economics Consultant you will design and develop reports and analyze data to measure clinical outcomes, network performance and methodology levers. You will investigate key business problems through quantitative analyses of utilization and health care costs data. As the Consultant, you will interpret and analyze clinical data from various sources and recommend best approaches for its consolidation. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a liaison between business and technical teams
  • Act as a product owner in scrum framework
  • Understand and clarify a business / technology problem
  • Organize, lead and coordinate activities with business customers to gather detailed requirements from through interviews, documentation and working sessions
  • Ensure high quality up-to-date requirements and documentation
  • Identify ambiguity in requirements documents / specifications
  • Identify changes in project scope and other impacts on the project
  • Develop and groom user stories as a business representative
  • Collaborate with a technical lead to prepare technical specifications
  • Manage formal acceptance of the internal project deliverables (PO signoff)
  • Manage formal delivery to business customers (presentations, documentations, and demos)
  • Participate in primary data sources research and select relevant information
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience in a corporate environment
  • 3+ years of health care experience working with medical and/or pharmacy claims
  • Experience working with clients to gather and document business requirements
  • Effective communication skills, including interfacing with clients, writing business cases and user stories, excellent verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to:
    • merge / concatenate data from different sources
    • read / understand SAS and/or SQL scripts
    • report basic analytics via SAS procedure or SQL queries
    • provide preliminary database analyses, joining tables on primary and/or foreign keys
    • work with database dictionaries
    • look up for variables range and distribution
  • Understanding of relational databases: time-lined and updated
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional documentation, presentation and active listening skills, attention to details
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of relational databases, and database structures and data analysis
  • Familiarity with UHG resources such as  UDW, UGAP and NHI
