Prudential Retirement is looking for a Technical Lead focused on Business Process Automation competency, who is hands-on individual, has passion for new technologies, understand business workflow automation specifically leveraging Pegasystems platform, java development approaches, web service oriented solutions, and ability to turn concepts to life. As a lead developer, you will focus on delivering best in class solutions, understand how to integrate disjointed systems, leverage diverse technologies, and ready to adapt changing design frameworks. This role combines strong technical expertise in multiple technology areas, ability to quickly learn core business functions, and a broad knowledge of business automation platforms to deliver and maintain application solutions to meet business needs.  The associate will participate as technical expert in design and development of business applications and support the teams throughout the software development life cycle. It will also require the individual to understand the internal as well as external services integration and data footprint. The specific responsibilities can vary from project to project, providing excitement and variety, but also requiring flexibility and adaptability to deliver on constantly changing environment.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with business partners, project managers and team members to clearly define scope of work and provide accurate schedule estimates.
  • Work with client groups to identify and analyze business requirements and processes to design, develop, validate, and implement.
  • Research and evaluate the most efficient and cost effective solution for the systems/program/component design and develop system specification. Understand functional specifications in order to devise technical design specifications.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams on project planning and investment prioritization.
  • Define and implement proof-of-concepts for proving new technologies, frameworks, and architecture patterns.
  • Design responsibilities include determining the best patterns to use for each integration scenario in order to gain the best performance, reusability and maintainability.
  • Utilize current practices and improve coding standards, development guidelines and ensure they are being followed.
  • Guide and help develop other team members across employee and consultant base.
  • Lead as well as contribute in building solution architecture proposals, participate in design discussions, and perform code reviews.
  • Review internal team and vendor partner deliverables for accuracy and quality.
  • Analyze and tune application performance as required, with a focus on optimal user experience, application integration throughput and efficient data access mechanisms.
  • Provide technical support for production issues resulting from new deployments, analyzing business reported issues, determining the root causes, and implementing fixes to prevent future outages.
  • Grow as a technical manager of a group of development staff to expand talent in the organization and assume people management responsibilities.

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum 8 years experience working on development of business process management (BPMS) platform and distributed systems with at least 3- 5 years as a technical team lead role
  • 8 years of core business process management (BPM) platform experience. Deep knowledge of Pegasystems platform is preferred
  • Experience with web services development and integration is a must
  • Working knowledge of databases and networking is needed
  • Knowledge of user experience and working with multiple browsers and mobile devices  is an asset
  • Ability to optimize the performance at multiple levels of technical stack preferred
  • Ability to quickly perform proof-of-concepts for validating new technology or approaches would be beneficial
  • Ability to analyze functional requirements and determine the type of integration work that is needed based on the business and functional requirements
  • Experience with designing, developing, and implementing complex integration for end-to-end solutions is required  
  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and all phases of the entire software life cycle utilizing waterfall, iterative and agile methodologies
  • Ability to own and influence work independently as well as in a globally diverse team from various technology backgrounds
  • Strong interpersonal skills including team collaboration, leadership, presentation, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.  Masters’ degree a asset.
