What You'll Do

The Video Cloud Services organization operates Cisco’s Infinite Video family of SaaS Solutions for our Service Provider customers. The team works with product engineering, operations, product management, strategy and business development, and the wider Cisco organization.

You will be the primary customer technical point of contact, working in a close partnership with the Engagement Manager to lead the engagement. You will be accountable for delivery of technical elements of our solution and will approach the engagement holistically to include end-to-end architecture, integration, deployment, and operational perspectives in the delivery.

The role works with the Regional Manager of Customer Architecture and will partner closely with Solutions Architecture, Security Architecture, Engineering, Product Management, and Services on engagements.

 

Specific responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the solution delivered meets customer requirements and operates with stability within the boundaries of our committed SLAs.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to improve operational capabilities and platform stability.
  • Provide architecture and solution mentorship to project teams in support of customer architecture activities
  • Collaborate with architects and technical teams throughout the Business Unit to ensure that product roadmaps are aligned and appropriate leverage points and dependencies are identified.
  • Collaborate across multiple entities within Cisco to drive converged solutions and generate customer value propositions, including the use of POCs.
  • Actively monitor strategic direction of solutions vendors, technology and market trends and determine potential impact.
  • Provide feedback on customer requirements to Solution and Product Architecture teams.
  • Assist devops team solve problems when support incidents occur (i.e. be hands-on when necessary)

Cisco Service Provider Platforms and Applications (SPPA) is the market leading provider of end to end and component solutions for the Service Provider Video markets including Broadcasters, MSOs, DTH, Telcos, Primary Distribution and Secondary Distribution providers.

The challenges they face include changes in subscriber viewing habits, stagnating subscriber fees, and increased competition from non-traditional service providers (who can provide new services at “WEB speed”). This model supports a continuous deployment/DevOps way of working so that new services can be delivered at speed and enables creative business models allowing them to reduce their costs. In line with overall Cisco strategy of using the cloud, and moving to Software as a Service (SaaS) business models, the VCS (Video Cloud Services) group has been formed to achieve this strategy within the Service Provider Video space.

 

Who You Are

Technical Expertise 

  • Web Services: REST, JSON, XML 
  • Operational tools: ELK, Splunk, Sensu
  • Video encoding and distribution technologies: ABR, MPEG, HLS, HSS, CDN
  • Managed clients: RDK, Communication protocols
  • Unmanaged clients: Phone, Tablets, STB.
  • Understanding of content rights and metadata specifications: Linear, VOD.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 5 years+ technical/architecture go-to-market experience with cloud based video solutions
  • Proven experience designing and delivering multiple large-scale complex solutions for Service Providers or Content Providers
  • Good understanding of cloud based solutions, microservice architecture, and deployment of cloud-scale applications
  • Experience delivering and operating cloud based video applications
  • Extraordinary communication and listening skills, and influencing skills
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to drive others to succeed
  • Strong business insight, ability to create customer value in solution design, ability to translate business needs into technical requirements
  • Ability to translate between business and technical partners. Able to interface well with executives while working hands-on with technical teams
  • Deep knowledge of the service provider video industry including metadata, content acquisition and processing, delivery, and clients.
  • Experience working with customers who are migrating from traditional packaged software delivery models to SaaS delivery models
  • Basic knowledge of AOSP and RDK STB integration
  • Able to place emerging technologies and trends in context of wider strategic business aims, and present concrete actionable recommendations to diverse audiences
  • Foundation in business intelligence and big data technologies
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams and modern software development practices
  • Professional experience writing code is a plus
  • Fluent in English
