What You'll Do

Seen as a skilled technical sales professional with knowledge in data center solutions and infrastructure domains, you will be providing architectural design expertise to account teams, business entities and partners.

  • You will be a technology and solutions evangelist responsible for developing winning creative IT platform proposals in high value enterprise opportunities that incorporate ecosystem partner technologies.
  • You will drive adoption of Cisco’s compute, storage, networking and software platforms primarily by delivering converged infrastructure design expertise that covers Cisco and third-party technology integration, data protection, storage and networking, data management, data security and compliance domains.
  • As a specialist data center architect, you will map enterprise customer business drivers to validated reference platforms, articulate solution vision, competitive differentiation and deliver design expertise to meet customer requirements including proof of concept, integration and demonstration activities in support of sales.
  • In addition to a sound knowledge of Cisco’s data center technology solutions and innovation you will possess a deep understanding of block, file and object storage, software defined storage, infrastructure programmability, provisioning, management, automation and self-service, virtualized, containerized, distributed and scale out architecture principles, private, hybrid and public cloud models.

Who You'll Work With

  • You will work as a member of the EMEAR data center technical specialists team, collaborate with ecosystem partners and account teams, Cisco in country specialist teams, services, business units, engineering, product marketing Cisco Customer Experience, GVE and Virtual Sales Support teams in driving opportunities. Co-ordinate additional resources as required.

Who You Are

  • A skilled technical pre-sales professional who collaborates closely with and provides solution guidance and prototyping to multiple customers/partners.
  • Broad understanding of Cisco Data Center product portfolio, solutions and services.
  • Drive adoption of top priority integrated and validated converged infrastructure, storage, compute, networking and software solutions with ecosystem partners for enterprise customers.
  • Communicate and sell the value of Cisco's integrated solution capabilities, describe and articulate how suggested customizations could address customer need emphasizing long-term benefits and value compared with bold best-of-breed point products/solutions.
  • Play a leading role in RFx responses to understand and articulate points of integration within Cisco's solution and works with external systems
  • Drive a business outcome selling approach by consulting with customers to demonstrate how Cisco’s integrated solutions can impact their business
  • Support ecosystem partner sales and events covering strategic enablement activities and customer opportunities including, project evaluations, workshops, proof of concepts, demonstrations, training and speaking engagements.
  • Spend more than 50% of time directly with customers/ecosystem partners – split between up front collaboration on desired solution capabilities, architecture design, integration and solution demonstration.
  • 7 to 10 years’ experience in markets where Cisco challenges
  • At least 3 years data centre architecture experience
  • 2 to 4 years consulting sales experience or related field experience with customer interaction
  • Strong IT background (a computer science degree or equivalent knowledge)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of compute, storage, networking and software platforms for the data center
  • Detailed understanding of block, file and object storage, software defined storage, infrastructure programmability, provisioning, management, automation and self-service, virtualized, containerized, distributed and scale out architecture principles,
  • Strong familiarity with hypervisors, OpenStack, containers and microservices, private, hybrid and public cloud models, IaaS, SaaS and PaaS.
  • Software/application development and programmability expertise for infrastructure automation, provisioning and deployment.
  • A solid networking foundation

Desirable Experience:

  • Detailed design knowledge/experience of Swift, Ceph, Cinder, Gluster. Microsoft Storage Spaces, NVMe and flash array solutions
  • Design/deployment/operational experience of EMC/VMware, VCE, Netapp, IBM and Pure storage solutions/architecture/platforms
  • Design/deployment/operational experience with Scality RING, Veeam and Commvault solutions
  • Direct experience of developing/customizing software applications which leverage IT platform capabilities and/or data.
  • Familiarity with software development principles LEAN/Agile/CI/CD and toolsets IDE, Puppet, Chef, Ansible
  • Familiarity with architecture frameworks and their relevance i.e. ITIL, TOGAF
  • Advanced understanding of Cisco Data Center product portfolio, solutions and services
  • Proficiency in the use of Cisco lab and demonstration capabilities (DevNet, CPoC, dCloud) to effectively demonstrate solutions, code, scripting, workflows, service graphs etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant data centre competitor products and technologies plus competitor specific applications, how they compare to Cisco’s
  • Data virtualization and analytics, machine learning, big data, Hadoop concepts
