Description The Technical Writer’s primary role is to assist in preparing and maintaining program documentation to include both technical documents, such as standard operation procedures, user guides and manuals, and technical publications; as well as program documents such as communications with the end user population, web portal content, and monthly reports and deliverables.

+ Working closely with the communications group and program management offices, develop templates and standard formats for deliverables, agendas, meeting minutes, reports, and other communications.

+ Create and update technical documents for internal and other service provider use, based on engineering drawings, technical information from engineering documentation, consultations with engineers and subject matter experts, and other available sources.

+ Produce user manuals, training manuals, and other documentation utilized by the end-user community.

+ Interpret engineering and maintenance drawings, operational procedures to understand and blend large quantities of computer related information

+ Research technical subject matter, organizes information from multiples sources, and express technical information in written form that is comprehensible to a wide audience of readers.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Develop templates for program communications, web content, standard operating procedures, and program deliverables.

2. Interact with program management office and other program leaders to assist with all communications and documentation requirements.

3. Compose, edit, and publish management communications for the internal team and to the Government customer.

4. Provide quality control for program deliverables to ensure accurate, professional, consistent reporting.

5. Coordinate with technical personnel to gather input and develop standard operating procedures and technical reports.

6. Maintain a repository of program documentation in SharePoint.

The Technical Writer shall have six (6) years of experience that may include a combination of work history and education.

+ Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is desired, however four (4) years of additional TW experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree; an associate’s degree is equivalent to 2 years of experience.

+ Work experience in supporting program management and technical organizations with the preparation of documents, manuals, briefings, articles, web content, and email correspondence is required.

+ Must have excellent facilitation, program/activity management, and written and oral communication skills.

+ Must be proficient in SharePoint and Microsoft Office Tools.

Required Clearance: Candidate must have a TS/SCI polygraph clearance
