The Business Entity: Cisco’s Corporate Strategy Office (CSO) is responsible for fostering and capturing innovation 'wherever it is' in order to execute on our growth strategy. Cisco uses our 'Innovation Ecosystem' to anticipate the future challenges our customers will face, to anticipate and lead market transitions.


The Team: Cisco's Corporate Strategic Innovation Group (CSIG) is part of CSO. Our group explores, identifies, and cultivates innovation by working with employees, customers, partners, startups, and academia to build and shape new technologies and businesses. We accelerate innovation through a variety of projects and programs.


Job description:

  • Responsible for the design, planning, execution, and monitoring of company-wide innovation programs.

  • Applying management experience to bring structure to chaos and work cross-functionally with multiple organizations inside Cisco.

  • Responsible for managing portfolio company development across Cisco’s nine global Innovation Centers.

  • Applying innovation experience to help turn ideas into business outcomes.

  • Working together with regional sales teams, identify customers that could be interested in new technological developments and co-innovation with Cisco. Work to bring those customers into our Innovation Centers together with portfolio companies and develop novel solutions to their problems.

  • Run the Cisco Innovation Grand Challenge – Cisco’s largest global startup competition attracting more than 5000 entries each year.

  • Work with the winners of the Cisco Innovation Grand Challenge to ensure that they get exposure to Cisco’s business units, customers and partners, and ensure they are accelerated and integrated into Cisco’s business.

  • Work with Cisco partners, customers, venture capital partners, accelerators to connect with regional startup communities; find interesting startups with which Cisco can co-innovate.

  • Own and nourish executive relationships at all relevant startup accelerators in regions outside the USA.

  • Leverage Cisco’s business infrastructure (customers, sales teams, channel partners) to drive value to startups that Cisco works with – connect these startups with prospective opportunities.

  • Leverage Cisco’s Innovation Centers to drive value to venture capital funds that Cisco partners with by working with the startups in their funds and bringing them prospective opportunities.

  • Manage, monitor and report all activities focused around the interaction between Cisco Innovation Centers and Cisco portfolio companies.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Pluses: start-up mentorship, business incubator or accelerator experience, familiar with lean startup

  • 10+ years project / program management. Proven expertise in delivering complex projects / programs

  • Pluses: Prior Cisco experience, PMP or similar

  • Bachelor degree

  • MBA from a top ranked business school preferred
