Our mission at Cisco Meraki is to simplify technology so our customers can focus on what's most important to them: their customers, students, patients, and businesses. We’re making networking smarter, faster, and easier to deploy. We have millions of devices deployed and because they are managed from the cloud, we are able to use real-time data to continuously improve the performance and stability of our products.

In this role you will lead a test team for the MX Security Appliance, a product with a wide range of advanced routing and security features. You will direct a small team (3-5 persons), providing them technical mentorship as well as planning the team’s roadmap.

Your team will be fully embedded within the software development team and work closely with a number of other teams in engineering and other departments. For example, your team will help MX developers write tests for new features, work with other test teams to plan changes to shared infrastructure, and collaborate with our Product Management team to publish performance benchmarks.

Example responsibilities of a Meraki Testing Team Lead:
  • Planning and tracking test development timelines, updating the rest of the team when things change
  • Playing a key role in the software release process for the larger MX team: moving release candidate builds through different stages of validation (internal testing, beta, etc.), acting as a gatekeeper of quality at each stage
  • Being a part of the leadership of the larger MX team: weighing in on development priorities, projects going on across the team, etc.
  • Architecting changes to our testbed topology to support testing of a broader range of product features
  • Writing performance reviews and encouraging the professional growth of everyone on your team
  • Identifying gaps in your team’s knowledge or ability to execute, then working with our recruiters to build out the team and fill those gaps
You are an ideal candidate if you have:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience with computer networking protocols, e.g., DHCP, TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL, routing protocols
  • Experience configuring and debugging networking equipment or protocols
  • Experience automating or scripting tests or other systems in languages such as Python or Ruby
  • Leadership experience on projects involving substantial planning and coordination (either in a formal role or de facto)
Bonus points for experience with any of the following:
  • Technologies used by security appliances such as IPsec, Snort
  • Virtualization or container technology (vSphere, Xen, Docker)
  • IXIA test equipment
  • Development infrastructure such as Jenkins, git, gerrit, JIRA
