Position Summary:

Meridell is seeking an exceptional Therapist who is qualified to coordinate the plan for each child's course of treatment including: admission process, modalities (specialized group therapies, if indicated), health, school, recreation, milieu, facilitate process groups, provide individual and family therapy.  Is a liaison with families regarding treatment and discharge issues and is also a liaison with outside agencies and individuals including referral sources;  responsible for developing and writing admission assessments, treatment plans, and discharge summaries within established time frames.   Must write clear, accurate notes documenting active treatment for each therapy session within established guidelines and time frames;  assume primary responsibility for discharge planning in coordination with the family and all members of the treatment team. Responsible for the assessment, desig, structuring and implementation of the program services to best meet the needs of the patients and families.

Education:  Must have Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a mental  health field.
Experience:  Two years direct practice experience and/or clinical (graduate, continuing ed., etc.) training specific to individual, family and group therapy (if specialized issues group, training must be specific to issue).  
License/Certification:    Must have a current certification or licensure by the State of Texas (LCSW,  LPC, LMFT)
Skills: Must have good verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate in a clear and concise manner with children and adolescents, families, all members of the interdisciplinary team and with managed care representatives.
Must have good clinical skills to assess dynamics accurately and develop effective treatment strategies within the context of the overall treatment plan.
Must have good analytical ability to evaluate information reported by all members of the treatment team and revise treatment strategies accordingly.
Must have leadership abilities to support the clinicians, nurses and care workers working with the population.
Must be flexible regarding program needs.
Essential Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform medium physically demanding work requiring walking, sitting or standing.
