Job Description

Cedar Hills Hospital - located just 15 minutes from downtown Portland - is an 89-bed, free-standing psychiatric hospital specializing in mental health and substance use care that allows our patients to take the first step to recovery. We provide a wide range of services and programs that offer evidence-based treatment proven to have positive outcomes for our patients. Our inpatient and outpatient services offer supportive and compassionate care through specialty programs that are tailored to meet the needs of our patients.

The Therapist performs social services functions to include assisting patients in meeting their biopsychosocial needs while enabling them to obtain their optimal level of emotional health. Job duties include providing basic consultation, clinical assessment, group therapy, patient teaching, crisis intervention, short-term individual and/or family therapy, providing information and referrals as needed. Experience in substance use disorders and co-occurring treatment is required Work Schedule: 4-10 hour shift with working every other weekend.

Job Requirements

Education:Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, in Social Work or a clinical related mental health field preferred.

Experience:  Program Therapist I requires a minimum of two (2) years’ experience and  Program Therapist II requires a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience in family and group therapies, crisis intervention, and treatment skills; must have strong clinical assessment skills.

License: Program Therapist I must possess a state license within two years of employment and the Program Therapist II must be state certified in social work or clinical related mental health field.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR certification , Crisis Management and Service Excellence Training within 90 days of employment prior to assisting in a restraining procedure.  Must be able to pass a competency exam for the area upon hire.  May be required to work flexible hours and overtime.
