Job Description

University Behavioral Health of Denton is a private freestanding psychiatric hospital specializing in mental health and chemical dependency care.

Serving North Texas and surrounding areas since 2005, we provide a wide range of services and programs that offer evidence-based treatment proven to have positive outcomes for our patients.

Our inpatient and day hospital services offer supportive and compassionate care for adolescents and adults through specialty programs that are tailored to meet the needs of our patients.


The Program Therapist performs social services functions to include assisting patients in meeting their biopsychsocial needs while enabling them to access through therapeutic treatment skills to achieve their optimal level of emotional health, including providing basic consultation, teaching/psychoeduacation, complete specialized clinical social work services for patient/families receiving care, crisis intervention, short-term, long-term facility therapy, facilitate therapeutic groups, providing information and referrals as needed. Collaboratively work with interdisciplinary treatment team for coordination and planning of patient care.

Job Requirements

   Education: Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work or a Clinical related mental health field.

Preferred minimum 2 years experience in psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience in family and group therapies, crisis intervention. case management/discharge planning, must have strong clinical assessment skills, hospital experience strongly preferred.

Licensure: LMFT-A, LMFT, LPC-Intern, LPC, LMSW, or LCSW license required.

Additional requirements: CPR certification, Handle With Care, and Verbal De-Escalation training within 30 days of employment prior to assisting in a restraining procedure. Must be able to pass a competency exam for the area upon hire. May be required to work flexible hours and overtime.
