Position Summary:
Laurel Heights Hospital, a psychiatric residential treatment facility for children and adolescents, is seeking a FT, exempt, Therapist for our adolescent boys unit. This position will be responsible for individual, family and group therapy weekly along with completion of all documentation within the time period as outline by policy. In addition, to providing therapy services, case management and discharge planning are a crucial part of providing services as the child will be returning to his home/community environment therefore continuity of care is paramount for success. This position requires a fully licensed master’s level individual in social work, professional counseling or marriage and family. In addition, this individual who has a strong background in trauma and play therapy or experiential is helpful. You will also work very closely with direct care staff in providing clinical information as it relates to patients and the best way to interact, intervene and support the patient.
 
Requirements
Full-time exempt Unit Therapist position(minimum 40 hours per wk.); fully licensed master’s level degree in mental health/social services/counseling field to work with elementary school age boys who are suffering from psychiatric illness along with emotional/behavioral disorders. Training, certification, experience in play therapy and trauma work is preferred. In addition, previous experience with case management, discharge planning and knowledge of community resources is helpful. Basic knowledge of child growth and development; able to respond to children/adolescents in a firm yet nurturing, caring manner, while maintaining professional boundaries necessary; willingness to seek supervision in this regard when necessary. Must be able to complete all paper work within a 24 hour period. Acceptable oral and written communication skills, computer literate, ability to maintain information as highly confidential, telephone etiquette, and customer service skills by phone and face-to-face; familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred; skills in prioritizing and in managing time; problem-solving skills; use of appropriate social skills, including demonstration and respect for staff and patients; empathy toward patients.
