The Training Manager serves a critical position in the Real Appeal Training department responsible for analyzing, assessing and constructing scalable new hire and ongoing training programs delivered across the Real Appeal organization. The individual in this role is also responsible for the build-out of training programs to support business needs and for evaluating training program outcomes to ensure effectiveness of training programs. Individual contributors in the Training Department report to the Training Manager.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establish Training Strategies and Approaches
    • Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders and SMEs needed to identify business needs, performance goals and gaps
    • Identify and communicate appropriate solutions needed to address identified business issues and needs
    • Evaluate learner readiness to tailor planning of training solutions
    • Translate business needs into training / development needs
    • Identify / Select appropriate training methodologies and communicate to stakeholders in order to drive adoption
    • Leverage all relevant training/development approaches
  • Identify and Communicate Training Best Practices and Trends in Training
    • Identify current and emerging trends in the training industry including technology capabilities, training delivery modes (ILT, e-learning, virtual, blended, etc.) and new / emerging learning techniques and technologies
    • Contribute ideas to influence the adoption of technology solutions that enhance training outcomes in the business
    • Share best training practices with stakeholders across the business
    • Drive adoption of training best practices and trends
  • Drive Implementation of Training Solutions
    • Leverage appropriate resources to drive the design, development and delivery of training solutions; contribute in any / all aspects of the process as needed
    • Develop overall training plans / calendars to communicate and manage training activities / resources
    • Identify and address implementation obstacles / issues as they arise
    • Provide facilitation/support to leadership teams in order to drive achievement of their business goals
    • Recommend enhancements to our learning processes and systems
  • Manage Training Staff and Resources
    • Identify and procure training staff and other resources (e.g., equipment, software)
    • Develop / manage training budgets (e.g., forecasts)
    • Ensure that training staff understand how training goals align with business strategies and ensure that they adhere to internal processes, procedures and practices
    • Ensure that training staff have access to required tools and information
    • Lead instructional designers to ensure that designs meet requirements (e.g., business needs, design quality, cost effectiveness, learning objectives)
    • Establish clear lines of communication with all applicable stakeholders and set appropriate expectations
    • Manage training projects to ensure proper design, development, implementation and evaluation of training solutions
    • Partner with organization-wide training units to coordinate and integrate activities as appropriate
  • Evaluate and Communicate Training Value / Impact
    • Collaborate with leadership to champion training and development as business priorities
    • Develop strategies to help leaders create a working environment conductive to the delivery, application and impact of training
    • Deliver and implement practices to measure training impact and help leaders ensure that training is applied on the job
    • Monitor and analyze training metrics / data / trends; communicate areas needing attention to applicable stakeholders
    • Identify and implement improvements to learning solutions
    • Drive continuous improvement in learning and business outcomes
  • Demonstrate Professionalism in Conduct and Communication
    • Act as a leader and maintain professionalism in all interactions with learners and business leaders
  • Perform additional work as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • 3 or more years of experience with adult classroom training, virtual training, instructional design and/or training project management
  • Proven ability to develop and present effective training programs to a variety of audiences
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and principles
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience using e-learning development software (e.g., Articulate, Camtasia or Captivate) and administering a Learning Management System
  • Ability to travel to facilitate meetings and/or training at other locations if needed (up to 25%)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree
  • 1 or more years of experience managing direct reports

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to gather and analyze complex information and then synthesize that information into clear, easy-to-understand training and documentation solutions
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with other employees
  • Ability to facilitate training, attend meetings and work directly with teams onsite in their work environments
  • Exceptional professionalism in both written and spoken communication
