**Undergraduate Community and STEM Project Manager** **Sandwich Site**

**Department Overview**

The Community and Academic Team coordinates external requests from the local Pfizer community to support both voluntary and financed projects in the areas of education, health and well-being. Working closely with external charities and organisations, the team acts as a point of contact for the wider internal community at Sandwich in order to meet these requests where appropriate. The team also supports the education of the next generation of scientists through a variety of and projects such as external STEM and SIP events, school visits and science teaching activities.

**What can I achieve and what will I be responsible for whilst completing a placement at Pfizer?**

+ Co-ordinate, manage and contribute to the development of a programme of events in liaison with members of the Sandwich community and academic team in support of:

+ STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) engagement programmes in local primary and secondary schools and participation in external science events (e.g. Big Bang, Kent Festival of Science).

+ SIP (Science Industry Partnership) activities in support of science in careers and further education

+ School visits to the Sandwich site to enhance science learning (including laboratory tours)

+ Local charity and volunteering activities

+ Time and resource management of charitable events and activities including Pfizer volunteers and equipment, and liaison with external organisations as necessary

+ Research and generate new ideas for community, academic and STEM events and activities (including science-based practical demonstrations)

+ Budget and finance planning

+ Generating engagement of Pfizer colleagues as STEM and SIP Ambassadors

+ Administration of Sandwich site Community and Academic intranet site

+ Preparation and circulation of promotional materials where required

+ Support Site Communications Lead in project management of Sandwich site business events and related activities

**When can I start?**

Placements will start on 3rd September 2018 and will run for 12 months.


Type of person we are looking for, in relation to ' **Skills** ', ' **Knowledge** ' and ' **Motivation** ':

+ Ideal candidate studying either a Business, Communications, Marketing or Science degree. Other degrees will also be considered.

+ Interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths from an event project management and development perspective

+ Outgoing personality

+ Strong communication and networking skills, and ability to thrive in face to face situations.

+ Proactive thinking and the ability to work on own initiative

+ Good project management and organisational skills are essential
