Unit Description

Sodexo Universities is looking for a Unit Marketing Specialist to join our team at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. Founded in 1848, Muhlenberg College is a highly selective, private, four-year liberal arts college located in the Lehigh Valley of eastern Pennsylvania. 


The Unit Marketing Specialist plays a critical role in driving revenue and growth at our account.  The Unit Marketing Specialist assists with unit marketing efforts including market research and market analysis. Designs, develops, and refreshes visual merchandising. Assists with marketing program development, implementation, communication, and evaluations.  Other duties include but not limited to:


Direct Marketing and Design

Designs, implements, and develops all customized marketing for resident and retail dining at Muhlenberg College.  Designs printed and electronic marketing materials including meal plan brochures, bi-annual magazines, menu boards, digital signage, and other communication tools. Develops customized marketing strategies to increase sales and contribute to effective business development.


Technology and Communication

Responsible for Muhlenberg Dining web site including all updates to context and graphics.   Maintain social networking sites including Facebook ,Twitter and Instagram as well as manage the Bite App. Continuous focus on innovation to develop the overall business through constant research and knowledge of the campus market including strategic initiatives, proposals of new concepts, and development of the current programming.


Client and Customer Relations

Act as a point person for client interaction requiring effective communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects with quick turnaround times.  Strengthens customer relations by building relationships with students, faculty, and staff as well as serve as a representative for Muhlenberg Dining at student, faculty, and staff meetings and events.  Serves as the designated contact person for all meal plan questions.


Managing Employees and Operational Skills

Develops and manages three internship programs including a marketing intern, sustainability intern, and culinary & nutrition intern.  Manages the resident dining front of house responsibilities twice a week including direction of supervisors, employee communication, and partnership with the culinary team.  Demonstrates leadership in enhancing employee relations with recognition programs and monthly customer service training classes.


The most qualified candidate will be experienced in marketing, creative, highly proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), be familiar with the graphic design process, be a strategic thinker, a flexible, team player, be able to work well in a multiple unit campus setting, and have broad knowledge of marketing with social media.


Must have high energy and be relatable to our customers as well as possess great communication skills, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills.  Experience with food service operations and graphic design (Adobe) software is also a plus.  


Position Summary

This position leads coordinated efforts in implementing and deploying unit marketing growth and customer satisfaction and retention strategies. Leads unit marketing plan development, implementation, communication and evaluation with analysis, training and engagement. Leads projects and is a resource for a strategic area. Can work as a project manager and/or liaison for marketing strategies, concepts and projects.

-Partnerships: Partner with University for special events
-Web/Social Media: Increase Website and Social Media presence through Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
-Must have high energy, flexible, team oriented but work independently, and be a multi-tasker. Attention to detail, great communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
-Interacts with internal team members, media and public relations
-Ensures customers and Sodexo/SodexoMAGIC goals are aligned
-Coordinate all unit marketing initiatives to drive sales growth and track results

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
